Anybody looking for a bike should contact American Honda Powersports customer service. I called them and gave them my location. They sent me a list of dealers to contact based on who had bikes on the way. I swooped into Harmon Motors in Ironton, OH and picked mine up last Wed 6-9. No calling around, no waiting list BS. Bikes are out there and they know who has them.
what's the # you called American power sports ??

I called the 800 number. Honda's information was out of date. Every Trail listed had been sold. Talk about backlogs. The Evergiven finally sailed to Port Said today after the owners paid the Suez Canal Port Authority. There are still many container ships anchored at LA, some have 20,000 containers. See https://www.cruisin.me/cruise-port-tracker/united-states/los-angeles-california/ Many east coast ports are looking for work but the Panama Canal charges too much so the west coast BACKLOG continues.

I think the key is to waitlist with a Honda-only factory dealer. I got myself geeked up this last Christmas and put $500 down at Peak Honda World in Littleton, CO in January. They said they were getting 1-2/mo., so I was expecting it in the Spring sometime. Ended up getting it late February. Meanwhile, the Fay Meyers Powersports dealer closest to my house, which sells and services all major brands, had a waitlist of 30. As of today (July 14, 2021), they've received two...

I wish that Honda would get in touch with us, and tell us what is going on. Do we have to wait until 2022? Or 2023? I'm number 19 on a list of 45 people who have given our local dealer $200 deposits.

yeah, its done at the dealer level at the end of the day. I told mine i wanted one and that was all it took, i got their only one so far, and that was in feb. (they actually had ordered 2, second one still hasn't arrived). We were in there yesterday eyeballing a cub for angie, they have 2 of them on the floor.

19/45. At a certain point it isn’t Honda’s fault anymore. I would recommend your laptop and phone and call around to every dealer you can. Tiny mom n pop shops in small towns, 2 or 3 on a list, maybe. 19th, not likely for a couple years IMO. They probably make $6-$8k per talon and maybe a few hundred on this?
I believe this is more of a branding bike, looks sweet on the Honda page but not a large player in the profit plan.
Maybe 500+ of us got lucky. Good luck but I’d start calling around!

I was speaking with the local dealer general manager on Saturday. We have a very good relationship.. to the point where if i say I'm going to buy a bike, he holds it for me, period, no q's asked. (I've personally bought 7 from them myself). That being said, the markup on them is typically between 3-500 per bike. that's what the dealer actually makes. I also know the sales manager and , service dept manager (on occasion i get called in to 'consult' on older bikes) , etc. I actually get to see the invoices. Reality is, they will always make some money, but the real profit is service and accessory sales.

What he told me was that there was a customer that he had sold a side by side to out of his area. His area guy had told him he shouldn't sell it to him because the real profit was as said above, in parts/service etc. , and if it was out of area, he'd never see that. Even he was surprised he was told that.

I was in there buying a filter for my CB1100 and looking at a cub for Angie, and we discussed price. They are making $286 bucks profit on that cub at what he quoted me. When you typically see prices at or below msrp, its because they are either making room for new units and have to clear the floor, or trying to reduce the 'floor plan' costs, OR figure they will make it up later on accessory sales. Also, there's incentives for moving X number of units per month/period/year per dealer and this is how they get ranked, from the suppliers, which dictates their ability to get more desirable models, etc.

I've worked in dealerships way back.. automotive. My ex wife was int he Charlotte BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealership for years in administration, her desk was literally 2 feet from the owners and i got to see all sorts of paperwork, etc. They all basically follow the same business model. when this is all understood, It makes navigating a dealership. a bit easier. But it still sucks overall.

In regards to the mfgs driving things ultimately, they aren't there to deal with the general public for the most part. They tell the dealers what to take and not. Proof of that is my '14 CB1100. It was a 4 year old 0 mile bike. Honda had (a bunch) of them sitting in a warehouse for 4 years since the black ones didn't sell as much, they MADE the dealerships take them to sell and they made very little on them because by that point they had depreciated so much . They threw new tires on them, and shipped them out. Some dealers didn't even want them. But when the word got out, they all sold very quick. I paid roughly 1/2 new otd price at the time, dealership made 200 bucks. (i couldn't pass it up).

Point being... find a local dealership. Look for one that probably has made a bunch of money for Honda, they are the best bet on a highly desirable bike.

The invoice for mine originally was $5800 otd, I was in the “managers office” for so long and bitching so much I got it otd for $5300. Your experience is at dealers you know, $5800 or $5300 on a bike that costs $3899? Msrp is making a bit more…. We are a one horse town and inventory is slim, if they didn’t get it from e they would have gotten it from somewhere else. He asked about the extended warranty, I let him know I drove the 1975 to work that morning, that the nicest answer I could muster.

Even other dealers in az were otd for $4300.

I get it. they will -try- to get more, of course, i paid 5074.00 OTD property and sales taxes, tags, all registration fees, dmv work everything done for what i paid. Biggest one was destination/shipping fee above msrp. they typically cant get around that one. that was 500 ish bucks. the bike doesn't cost 3899. that's an msrp (suggested retail price). Aside from the one member on here int eh state that doesn't charge taxes on vehicles under 5k (that was a new one to me, but very cool) its just the reality of almost any dealership deal.

There were a few who bought them that weren't gouged, I was pretty vocal I wouldn't even set foot in there for a spark plug. I was also going to pay whatever their bs price was, the bike will outlast me and I'm only 55! Rockymountainatv.com gets me parts as quick as they do... We do go there to spend the kids Fly Bucks from racing, HA, lots of paperwork for a $50 sale!

I don't mind supporting local businesses. they always treat me right around here at most, in particular the dealerships and such.

I talked to my local dealer today. No 125’s on the incoming list up to Oct. 29th here at their NC dealership.

AND, to add to my post above from yesterday, I got a call from another dealer today. I should have a 125 in a few weeks. They have 3 coming in but 2 or sold (mine and 1 other) so there is one available. Dealer said scheduled delivery is August 1. Dealer is in Rockingham, NC (Sport Cycles)

that's where my CB1100 was dealer traded from. the Rockingham dealer gets preference on models, frequently.
They are less than an hour from me so it’s pretty good. Like you said, they get a lot of stuff and move it. My deceased Dad bought a Suzuki from them nearly 30 years ago. I went with him to get it. Great memories ....

Picked mine up today. I think I got the best deal in the USA. $4,000 OTD. I pay the taxes when I register it.

Naults, at their Manchester NH store, is currently showing two ct125 as available - serials 1462 and 1588. A couple of years ago I've bought from their Windham NH store, and they're good guys. I hope that helps someone ...

They have VIN’s, so they should be real. No one in MA is showing inventory, and HMS Customer Service just sent me a list of all the dealers in Missouri and Iowa who have them in stock. I’m guessing whoever handled my request wasn’t looking too close at my address.
I would rather get a root canal than give GBM any of my money. I worked there many years ago and had to leave as a matter of principle.

I don’t know if I really need one of these but it looks like a lot of fun, and a great camp bike. I have a Harley in the garage that never gets ridden and this looks like it might be fun to putter around on, and everybody I know could ride it.

Went last Friday to a local Honda dealer in St. Louis who told me that I was #5 on the waiting list and that it would probably be after the new year before I got one. Came home, looked at cycletrader, saw one in Kansas City, called them up (said they got it the night before), and bought it over the phone. Drove to pick it up Tuesday! $500 over MSRP>
