Installation of Motion J Skid Plate

There's definitely less ground clearance, but the plate is very beefy and isn't getting deformed or bent at all. One bad flaw is the use of hex bolts, which stick way down past the plate and get beaten up badly. Swap out for buttonhead bolts instead. That will be a winter project for me.

Installation of Motion J Skid Plate

Ultimately, I got it on. It was an old thread on this forum that showed proper placement, and it works. Here are some pics.

Installation of Motion J Skid Plate

This is excellent information, thanks. Before this Motion J model, I already had ordered the $79 Amazon special, and it also didn't fit at all. None of the holes were even close to lined up. I returned it. Of the 3 options, from your excellent writeup, it looks like your Zeta one basically just...

Installation of Motion J Skid Plate

PS - if indeed this thing isn't an easy fit, do y'all have any recommendations for a higher quality plate that fits easily? I'm not averse to returning this thing.

Installation of Motion J Skid Plate

Hi All I've been using my Trail in very rocky conditions, and my stock skid plate is toast. I've banged it back into shape several times, but it's really on its last legs. I purchased a Motion J skid plate off of Ebay. It arrived today, and no holes line up, at all. I see these are quite common...

    Amps for accessories

So I've been experimenting with this on a trial and error basis. Running a pair of AUX BEAM fogs rated at 34 watts for the pair - no problem. I just added a set of Koso heated grips which take about 40W at full blast. Those shut off automatically if battery voltage dips below 11.5VDC, and on a...

    Seat Pad Solutions / Recommendations

I am a big advocate of taking stock seats (aka torture devices) and sending them to Bill Mayer Saddles to rework. I have sat on BMS seats for 19-20 hours a day without fidgeting once. They're magic! So as to avoid downtime, I bought one of the "Diablo" seats to hold me over while the stock seat...
