I'm in the process of looking into a replacement pipe and figured I'd start a post to try and get options and opinions from people who have tried them in one spot. So what exhaust are you running and what is your opinion of the product?

i got the yoshimura gp-magnum. Its louder than stock but not obnoxious and build quality seem good enough for me. It doesn't come out of the box with leg protection for passengers but i think you can buy a guard from them. I just wrapped that small portion with 2 layers of exhaust wrap and its good. As far as looks go its a generic can on a pipe. Im happy with it though and don't regret the purchase at all.

SP Takegawa Sports Exhaust system - This reuses the OEM heat shields so it was a small visual change. I wasn't happy with the black painted one due to paint fade from heat and corrosion. Wouldn't buy the same one again, but their newer stainless option may have solved those issues if you're looking to retain the stock heat shields and their look. It had a slightly different shape than the OEM pipe which caused the lower heat shield to rub on my bike's aftermarket engine skid plate, don't think that would have happened with the OEM skid plate.

OUTEX Exhaust System - This is the exhaust currently on my CT125 and it may be a bit loud for some. It can be made quieter with parts that interchange, but I haven't bothered to try that. I like the aesthetic (mostly why I picked it, the old school style heat guards) and the sound. It's held up well so far. If I didn't already have the Outex I would buy it again as of right now. The Yoshimura and Over Racing options are tempting though.

Worth mentioning that some exhausts fit both the 2020-2022 JA55 model and the 2023 JA65, while others do not. Check the item details or confirm with the vendor before buying one if you're not sure about compatability with your model year.

I don't like how expensive the OEM exhaust is to replace, but I prefer the quiet operation over most other factors. Until I find a performant but ultra quiet exhaust, I'll probably replace OEM with OEM.

I rode with this guy on the CDT (he's no longer on the forum):

Side by side and he was heavier than me, his bike seemed overall to have a slight performance improvement over mine. Exhaust note and sound was acceptable. I have no particular thoughts on it other than I didn't really like riding directly behind him due to the note and general rider positioning ideology, but I can definitely see a lot of people liking it. Just not me.

did you notice much difference in power with the outex system? I'm torn between that or a yoshimura

My CT125 went from stock exhaust to Takegawa to Outex, so I can't say about the Yoshimura. Stock to Takegawa felt a little bit more powerful on the butt dyno. Don't recall noticing any performance difference going from the Takegawa to the Outex exhaust. Without richening the air-fuel mixture I suspect many of the aftermarket exhausts may land around the same limited performance improvement as an isolated part upgrade.

I forgot to ask, did you get the stainless steel version of the Outex? There are a few different options for aluminum, steel, and titanium.

I went with the stainless steel exhaust pipe and the aluminum silencer, "R-SA-UP-S-PP" which it seems they have replaced with a different order of letters in the product code so it's now "R-SA-UP-PP-S"

I ended up going for the titanium version of the outex exhaust. The weight savings are night and day, you can really feel how much lighter it is. The extra .5 hp doesn't seem like much on paper but in practice it really opens up the ct to cruise at speed. I'm hitting 45-50 in 4th on hills I used to have to rev out 3rd to get up. It's louder than stock but if you take it easy you can still keep the bike very quiet. Not that you'd ever want to because this can sounds great. A nice throaty braaap that just encourages you to give it a little more throttle but never sounds whiny. While the engine is cold it really brings out the little pops and crackles the ct125 makes while it warms up. Plus just look at it! 10/10 pipe, would recommend, was well worth waiting a few months to be in stock!
