Carriers and baskets for the rear rack recommendations

This has been my setup for the last 6 months. I call it my truck, I use this harder than most folks use their actual trucks. It even has a tailgate. Also has additional tail/brake/turn lights mounted near the top for increased visibility. Some day, I'd like to replace it with an custom aluminum...

New 2023 Honda Trail Explorer CT125 Launched in Thailand

Interesting if so, as it seems like any performance improvements would be purely the new engine / tuning as the gearing seems to work out to a wash. Attached the doc I used to calculate the below images. 2022 on left, 2023 on right

New 2023 Honda Trail Explorer CT125 Launched in Thailand

This is my thinking too. I like the idea of the optional utility. The bike already does surprisingly well off road in my experience as long as you're prepared to gun the throttle to get/keep it moving, a lower first would make that a bit less stressful (for both me and the bike...). It's when...

Ignition/starter not working properly (video inside)

That is cranking weakly. Looks to me like a low battery that is dropping voltage low enough when cranking that cluster/ECU is resetting. I think somebody mentioned this in the other thread, but are you able to kick start it? If you aren't physically able to you could also try bump starting it...

New 2023 Honda Trail Explorer CT125 Launched in Thailand

This post seems to have some info about the possible 2023 model. https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/honda-ct125-trail-125-hunter-cub.1408707/page-508#post-45933255 For my part, I think it'd be nice if they added a low ratio 1st gear. The existing gearings on 1-4 are OK, as long as you treat 4th...

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

Yup, seems that will be the case. If/when the engine catastrophically fails the dealer will get to see what me being actually irritated looks like. Part of purchasing a new bike was to get a reliable starting point for some mild offroad adventures, and once I knew it had an issue I took to the...

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

Update on this is they didn't find anything abnormal about the clutch. Verdict is unless it fails they essentially can't do anything. This does not surprise me but it is disappointing. Bearing or other transmission component is still my personal best guess. Seems like I'm going to have to ride...

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

Yeah, my money is on a bearing also. I am wondering if there's overheating in the mix also... On Saturday I measured 252 degrees in the sump through the dipstick hole, which is excessive AFAIK. On a ride the prior weekend I was noticing power loss and a bit of clatter from the top end after...

please help - Looking for advice / feedback - weird buzzing sound when I turn the ignition or kill switch on

There's a whirr from the pump, and a buzz from the fuel injection system. Both should finish in a few seconds. It could be worth asking in a grom forum, they probably know more about the fuel injection system.

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

I have an action camera but the audio is unusable. Ditto for phone. So far the audio recorder to has been the only thing with usable audio quality.

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

Sigh. I dropped the bike off this Tuesday after a 3 week wait. Today, I get the call - we weren't able to replicate the issue. Maybe its normal, or it's the weird auto clutch. Or you're in too high a gear. When asked, they did not follow instructions and had been testing it cold or at low speed...

please help - Looking for advice / feedback - weird buzzing sound when I turn the ignition or kill switch on

Mine makes the same buzz. Pretty sure it's been doing that since new. The bike is at the dealer for a different issue... I'll update here if they comment on the buzz.

    Magnetic drain plug

I personally have gone with the chinese ones. As long as the machining is good there's not much to improve on, IMO, not enough for the 2x premium on the goldplugs . This is the one I went with. Regardless of what you go with give the magnet a good hard yank with a pair of pliers...

    Maiden voyage

This may be a silly question, but are you giving it a little throttle while downshifting? As long as the engine speed isn't dropping while shifting, I don't have an issue with downshifts. I usually shift down (hold), blip the throttle, release. Or not roll entirely off the throttle when...

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

Now that I have the sound recorded I've put in for an appointment with the nearest honda dealer to get it looked at. I'll update with the outcome from that....

    Transmission Scream/Screech/Howl at speed?

I captured the sound a few times and uploaded it to soundcloud. Any thoughts appreciated... I don't see any way this doesn't involve getting the dealer involves as it sounds like a bearing to me. Clutch in, clutch out: (appx 20 minutes into the ride) 45 mph - full throttle noise occurs Clutch...

    Biggest load hauled?

What's the most crap you've strapped to your bike?! The jankier the better - I want to see livestock on motorcycles! My super cub/passport holds my personal high score with a shop-vac and the numerous shopping trips where I forgot I was on a motorcycle. Bungee cargo nets are the real MVP. So...

Carriers and baskets for the rear rack recommendations

I used this wood crate from walmart. Note that it is actually about 9.5" tall. It may end up going on my Super Cub/passport eventually (or I may get another) but aside from my utter inability to get it stained or oiled, it's been meeting my requirements nicely. I also put a helmet lock on it...

    CT 125/trail Suspension upgrades

Yeah, if 3D printing a lump I wouldn't do anything but 100% infill ABS. I ended up fabricating some spacers out of 5/8 grounding rod, adding a washer to bring it up to the right width. It was fun riding with an 8 foot piece of metal hanging off! I left the factory fork oil alone. Performance...
