    CT125 daily driver in SWLA

And the black cylinder on the left upper fork??

Tips and Tricks for closing right side of crankcase?

One trick is to turn your bars all the way to the right, then lean the bike over to the left placing the left handgrip on top of a work stand or milk crate. Let’s the bike lean over as far as it can but just keeps the left foot peg & gear lever off the deck.

    Opmid meter centering bracket

My thoughts on running the Opmid meter and centring bracket for a hundred km or so: overall, a more fiddly install than I expected but well worth the effort and expense. I posted my initial thoughts onto another thread in the Tech section but thought I’d start a dedicated thread to do with the...

    OPMID Tac/Speedo/Gear Indicator

You can completely remove the existing speedo mount bracket and replace it with the Opmid centering bracket. Of course you loose the charging port mount but could easily mount an aftermarket USB style one elsewhere. It’s a fiddly install requiring remounting the two handlebar switch connecting...

    Colors - Red vs. Brown?

Red is seen a lot here in Oz, as that’s the traditional Australia Post delivery bike color. Thousands of CT110s around in that scheme, most are looking pretty faded now. We have the choice of Desert Tan as well but once I saw the bright red, I was hooked. I’d love to see a version in the old...

    Got my bike!

There are two broad groups of on/off road tires available for the CT Hunter Trail: block tread trials type and more knobby 50/50 pattern. Most of the budget rubber manufacturers have a model of either (Kenda, Shinko, Vee Rubber, IRC) but worldwide availability varies greatly. FWIW, I love my...

    Rear tire and chain

That’s a pretty good run out of basic quality items. I’m very happy with my 2.75/17 Vee Rubber tyres for light commuting and gravel backroads here. If you really can’t source anything, the front & rear tires are exactly the same size, although I think different load ratings. Just swapping front...

    Scratched rack solved.

Lining the lower bashplate would also be a consideration for me.

    First Oil Change

It’s on the right hand side of the crankcase: 14mm nut locking a screw thread with a single slot. Check for a more detailed description but you back off the 14mm nut, turn the inner bolt clockwise a single turn with a flat blade screwdriver then gently back it out counterclockwise again until...

    Chain Tension Question

Keep it simple, quick and regular. Chain maintenance, that is! The centre stand makes it so easy to clean & lube the chain. I’m just using a 50/50 mix of chainsaw bar lube & 90w transmission oil in an old pump can every couple of rides. Remember non oring chains don’t retain lube for very long.

    First Oil Change

I was surprised at how long it took me to adapt to the CT’s shift mechanism. It definitely helped adjusting a bit more freeplay via the clutch adj nut: instantly turned from a clunk to a click with a full quarter turn. Other caveats are having enough slack in the throttle cable to allow the revs...

New Owner Questions - Oil Changes & Kickstand Cutoff Disable

It starts & runs in neutral on either stand & will run in gear on the centrestand only. The kickstarter is very easy to use, I think there’s an auto decompressor on the stock cam. I think the centrifugal strainer is mainly to prevent clutch plate material from progressing into the general oil...

    Notable rides

Check out Ari & Zac’s On Two Wheels “Baja by Monkeybike” vid. It’s very entertaining but also has plenty of mini moto distance travel tips, too.

Riding with high beams/brights on all the time <poll>

Easy choice here: it’s blatantly illegal to use high beam/ driving/ fog lights during the day unless there’s inclement conditions in our state. But lane splitting & sidewalk parking are accepted within reason.

    Rampart Range in Colorado

Great trip report! Yeah, knobbies and maybe softer luggage would find you progressing more comfortably.

    Kriega bags

Yep. US-20 on the rear rack. Also have a US-5 that makes a handy toolkit module that looks like it would fit a centre rack well.

    MPG

Barely run in & getting 250km to 5 litres -> 156 miles/1.4 USG -> 110 mpg. Plenty of spirited riding through the gears but very little wide open for more than a mile or two. I thought fitting knobbies (Vee Rubber 2.75/17) might eat into the mileage but I guess using more gravel routes, I’m...

    Dilemma

Motorcycle Online did a great direct comparo between the two and it sounds like for your use, the scooter styled ADV150 might have the edge. The CT can be smooth once you get used to the shifting. I’ve had several Vespas and a few dirt bikes and feel that the CT is probably more suited to the...

How do you plan to use your CT?

Awesome to see some urban CT’s. It will eat the city traffic for breakfast. Sidewalk parking & lane splitting are completely normal here and the CT hops kerbs in its stride.
