Just put a brake light flasher in, and did not remove the original plugs.
This does involve crimping pins onto the wires, so helps if you have a pin crimper, or fine needle nose plyers.

Looking at that fitting, down at the pins, there is:

1 is the ground, 2 is the Running Light power, and 3 is the Brake light power.
So you wire the flasher black to 1, flasher red to 3 on both sides, and run a wire direct from 2 to both sides.
Keep the wires about 2.5 inches on either side, and it all fits in the tiny case neatly. And if you ever want to take it out, you still have the original plugs that you just plug back together.
