**UPDATE**

**Due in-part to the recent fire at the peak, the possibility of Thundershowers tomorrow afternoon/evening I'm going to push the Saddleback ride back a week.**

Hey all my So.Cal. Locals! Next Thursday (8/10) I'm going to take my Trail out to Silverado Canyon and ride Maple Springs Truck Trail to test-out the new Knobby tires I just recently upgraded to on my Trail!

This is going to be an evening (after work) ride. Tentative meet-up time 1730 near the gate at the end of Silverado Canyon Rd. I say near the gate because if you park in the parking area just before the gate, you are supposed to have a Forest Service Adventure Pass, but if you drive through the gate and travel less then a 1/4 mile there is a large dirt area you can park at, no pass needed.

Maple Springs Truck Trail (I think that's it's 'official' name) starts-out pretty mellow with broken pavement for the first couple of miles, then turns to dirt/rocks. It is a graded road and is somewhat maintained. The biggest hazard I've seen on it are other drivers who like to treat this twisting, narrow road as a race track. We will likely be riding ~15 miles up it to a place known as 'Four Corners' where we *may* continue up the hill to where all the antennas are (if the gate to that section of the trail is open again by then, at present time I'm told it's closed) or we'll stop at Four Corners, have a break then head back down again.

Should be a fun ride, I've been up there a couple of times this summer in my 4x4 and my street-legal off-road 'Buggy and the road, albeit chewed-up is in decent shape still. One thing to beware of is it does get dusty!

Hope all you So.Cal. locals can make it! BTW I'm planning-on bringing my Trail in the back of my truck to the Maple Springs gate as Santiago Canyon Rd (runs between the City of Orange and Lake Forest) is not Trail friendly (speed limit is 55 but people go a lot faster on it!)

Feel free to hit me up with any questions!
