I am seeing that the new high compression engines on the latest CT's appear to have an oil filter (underneath the engine on the righthand side behind the footbrake lever). Is that true or is the cylindrical component there the starter motor? I have a CT due for delivery in the UK very soon and I am hoping for the later engine - and with an oil filter. An oil filter would be very nice, coupled with a Gold Plug magnetic sump plug.

Yes. Is the one you ordered a 22 or 23? 23 will have a filter
I understand Honda has reduced the bore and lengthened the stroke, whilst increasing compression. Engine produces a massive 0.3hp more at lower revs than before, but apparently this has been done to reduce emissions. Somehow the bike is 2kg lighter than before. I hope to pick up mine in 2 days time, but the road registration will be another 4 weeks or so!

When asked about the colour choice and Seven Seas said silver was available I jumped on those knowing it was the "new" 23 model. If nothing else it means I have the same engine in the Cub as I'll have in the CTs making servicing and consumables easier, I can just buy three of everything.
I hope to pick up mine in 2 days time,... Not even a tiny bit jealous, well maybe just a bit. Don't expect to have mine on the island before early to mid April.
