ECU Connector question

Just curious if anyone has seen an ECU adapter pigtail for the 33 pin (OG Grom Style) to the later 36 pin edge ECU connector? I know some members are well seasoned Grom gurus, so through I would ask before I go to the trouble of cobbling something on my own. Probably a question more suited to the Grom crowed?

Something that has this style connector on one end:

and a 33 pin on the other like so:

Just a nerdy side project I am working on, if these don't exist, I may see about making my own OG style ECU to later style harness. The inspiration being, the ability to throw an OG Grom ECU on a CT or later Grom. Most of these small Honda bikes all have the same ECU circuits, so it's just a matter of routing the circuits to their home sensor/device from the ECU.

Wouldn't expect it to work plug-and-play with an adapter or people would be doing it on the Euro-5 Groms, but curious to see where this goes.

pretty sure it wont work, and heres why. I acually bought a new gen grom ecm, and the pin layout was indeed different (SAME PLUG BUT DIFFERENT NUMBER OF THEM) even though it was plug and play.. so to speak, threw a cel and def didn't run right. so, the 1st gen grom ecms will be even more off.. but, worth a shot. if the adapter can be made, an unlocked 1st gen ecm set to run the ct 'hardware' would be a game changer. but the ecm would def need to be flashed to do so.

Yeah, this would really be for the rare case to run a non MAP (alpha-N) setup (think Grom throttle body/idle solenoid) on a speed density (MAP) bike/scooter, such as the trail. The throttle body and ECU are kind of a package deal with these since they use different sensors/solenoids. Not what I intend to run, but worth exploring the option for my own notes.

i very seriously considered running an aftermarket grom throttle body (hell i have a koso 34 on hand actually), but didn't want to go down that rabbit hole again. swapping the TB and repinning a lot of the connectors would probably do it. I looke dinto it pretty deep a few yrs ago but just went 'meh' . lol. I'll wait for DHM or the like to come up with a flashed ecm, i know they were working on it

Yep I get it, in the same boat. From what I can tell so far (being a noob to the Grom/125 tuning world) is the seed/key has been cracked on the OG ECU's, (allowing flash read/write over the K-line) such as the ones Woolich supports, (ie: 38770-K26-901) but apparently a little "brute force" engineering is needed for the keys on the later ECU's still, and the market is probably quite small still to justify tons of engineering time. I do reverse engineering all day in my day job, so obviously (being a glutton for punishment lol) I will do a little exploration into this platform, with no expectations other than to learn how Honda makes the sausage so to speak. I know there are engineers working on fleshing out the binary code and the xdf definition files, checksums, table locations and all that fun stuff - so progress is being made.

Funny story, (well funny now) almost a decade ago I got in hot water with GM legal for publicly sharing some very simple code to brute force the seed/key on another automotive platform, that even at that time was defunct. So needless to say, I won't be making that mistake again! Lesson learned: Don't publicly share how simple it is to crack PCM "security" 🤣
