I want to mimic the "exterior paint" mods this YouTuber did, but don't have much personal experience:

He paid $300 to have his back rack, engine crash guards, and exhaust shields professionally painted black.
I'd like to try tackling this myself to save money and feel accomplished. I found some good posts on this forum for painting the exhaust shields, but haven't seen anything for the back rack.
Does anyone have past experience or advice on how to prep/paint the back rack (and engine crash guards)?
