Hello! I'm new to the site but have been lurking for a bit. Long story short -- had bikes my whole life but had sold them all and haven't rode in many years. Have a farm and have wanted a trail 125 to play with so I had the chance to get one and I did. This thing is a blast. I can't say enough about this bike. Now I want something a little faster but somewhat in the same spirit. Mainly want to be able to get on the highway -- if I have to-- to get to a trail riding destination and then put around some. I'm almost 50 so not planning to get crazy. I was thinking a CRF300L ABS and was wondering if anyone also went through this same evolution and how they like it.

My wife is being a gem and letting me get a second bike after just getting the trail but it will be doghouse if I tell her I'm going to need a third. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Help for the bike problem: I have owned an XT225, XT250, WR250R, DR200, have ridden the CRF250 & 300. The KLX300 tops them all in that category.
Help for the wife problem: It's a serious problem for sure but there's no simple cheap solution. 6 bikes, 2 quads, 3 SXSs, and a snowmobile so fortunately I'm ok with the wife.

I mean... I think everyone here is missing the point.

How nice is your doghouse, and how easy is it to improve it to reasonable standards? Wise man once said, "buy a couch that's comfortable to sleep on and a very nice doghouse."

I'm single, bro. I don't have the same issues as the married cats. I was just suggesting a nice place to stay. 🤣
That dog house is sweet, but even our dogs don't stay outside much. :ROFLMAO: Also, I don't have these issues either so,,, I've never understood it either.

women and motorcycle story from my past: my 1st motorcycle was when i was 20, my GF at the time 'forbade' me to buy it. Her words.. I don't think I've laughed that hard on the phone since. (and that was 30+ yrs ago). she meant well, but i went and bought the old 81 CB750 the next day. and the precedent was set. About 9 years ago, we caught up (hadn't seen her since we broke up when i was 21) and i rode over to meet her for lunch since she was rolling thru town to catch up (thats it!). I rolled up on my then Ducati and her words exactly were ' I think i was wrong about the motorcycle thing'. Ya think? 🤷‍♂️

I had a girl I started dating ask me to meet her for lunch, so I rode over on my Versys. She saw the bike and and said, Wow! You ride motorcycles along with flying jets and playing drums. She still dumped me, but at least I got a free sammich out of the deal. 🤣

My girl is not into bikes. Then I decided to teach her how to ride when I had a Grom which ended with a ride in an Ambulance and 25 stitches in her left leg. So now she's *really* not into bikes! She also once rolled one of my Quads and got a mild concussion. Despite that she'll still go putt around on one of the Quads but getting her on a bike, even as a passenger is a no-go.

I tricked her into going with me to buy my Trail. I bought mine used and the guy I bought it from lives(d) in a swanky beach town near where my GF grew-up. When I was going to look at the bike I asked if she wanted to go for a drive down there (not telling her I was going to go look at a bike). It was Father's Day weekend and was a gorgeous Southern California day. She agreed but soon figured-out something was up.

Her: "Why are we taking your Pick-up?"

Me: "I don't feel like shifting gears today (most of my other cars are manual trans). Plus the T100 has gas and hasn't gone anywhere in a while."

Her: "Why is there a Motorcycle helmet on the front seat?"

Me: "I gotta make a stop along the way. It won't take long, I think I found a motorcycle I want to buy."

Her: "You're buying lunch."

Last summer I used my Trail almost exclusively on our monthly camping trips in the mountains. On one of our trips she admitted that of all my bikes she likes the red Honda the best. I thought this meant that maybe she might want to ride it, or at least ride on the back of it with me. Then she added, "It's the quietest one you have. I like that it doesn't wake me up when I'm taking a nap and you come-back from a ride."

She's into cars though and encourages me whenever I find another car or truck I need to have. Maybe that's not a good thing though as I'm out of parking at my house LOL!
