Picked up a trio of 1981/1982 c70 “passports” the American Honda cub. Got two of the three spit shinned up, blue one will get a rinse today and then carb work for all three and tank replacement on just one and I think they will all start right up!

very cool indeed. if i found one of those locally id get it for my wife to go along w her supercub

Got em for a steal out of Missouri, I’m down in Florida now after leaving SD. One is a gift for my brother in MO and the other two will go to my brother and his wife in GA. For 1500$ I just couldn’t pass it up! I’ve had an 82 for the last 10 years or so and I love it. I probably would’ve bought a new, super cub if it came with a kickstart.

Good grief! That's a deal! Those look to be in great condition too. I have an 82 in my garage that I need to get the carb right as of now and clean her up a bit. Not going to do a restoration or anything, just some elbow grease and a new seat cover. They're great swap meet bikes.

If they have OEM Keihin carbs, I highly recommend keeping those and cleaning or rebuilding them. One of the worst things that tends to happen to these bikes is prior owners taking the OEM carb off and replacing it with a cheap clone as a quick fix trying to getting the bike running without going through the carb. There's a reason the no-name ones are $25 and the used Keihin ones cost as much as they do. The one clone I've had a decent experience with is a Sheng Wey, a very faithful Taiwanese copy of the Keihin.

Oh yeah. I never get rid of the original carbs that came on any bike I've ever bought unless they were absolutely toast. Most times I used the original jets after a good fishing line poking, unless they were chewed up from a screwdriver. I usually end up using gaskets and o-rings in carb kits specifically. Ditto on the Taiwanese carb suggestion.

Absolutely, unfortunately, I was walking my brother through resetting the carb mixture over the phone because I just finished walking him through rebuilding the carburetor and I’m pretty sure he overtightened the pilot screw and destroyed the original. Funny, you mention that Taiwanese clone because that’s the replacement that I have on the way to him. I wish I could find an OEM replacement. I’m hoping when we take the OM carburetor apart that the pilot screw itself is just broken and we can replace it.
