I'm a idiot, I think that's been well documented here on this forum, the big problem with it is I'm a adventurous idiot, that gets me in trouble. Now I can be taught and even though I'm stubborn and hard headed I like to think I learn from my mistakes and try not to repeat them. So I'm building a ford transit van to use as a small camper this winter when the wife and I get the heck out of SD cold for 4 to 6 months just bumming around the southern US. Now over the years I've installed several maxxair fans in RVs and vans and cargo trailers and I've got it down to a manageable job but this time I started watching YouTube videos and the troubles began. Rather than using the 40 dollars worth of supplies I would normally use I spent 270 on 2 different pieces of support and clamping rings that after fooling with for 2 days and never getting to work right I just threw in the trash and installed as I normally would have anyway. Ok lesson learned idiot, tried and true methods are best if you just want to get the job done and move on, leave the new and improved stuff to others cause most of them are not idiot proof. Trust me I know.

Hey, sometimes we are wrong. Learned (probably relearned) something really valuable.I can’t list the number of times I’ve done dumb shit worse than that’!

I can't tell you how many times I've bought a new tool or kitchen gadget that was going to make life easier and wound up either giving or throwing it away because apparently the people on the advertisement are genius level and I cannot get it to work right to save my life. I was a wood turner for several years and I spent hundreds on gouges and scrapers and gadgets yet wound up using the same 2 or 3 tools I already had and could get good results with 99 percent of the time. Like pt barnum said "a fool and his money is soon parted".
