Greetings, my new CT125 should be delivered in the next couple of weeks. I live in the southern part of the Denver metro area but plan to keep the bike at my property on Southeastern Colorado.
For the past month I have been reading as much as I can on this very informative forum.
While I expect that the majority of my riding will be on my property consisting of a variety of gravel roads, rocky trails and river bottom sand, And cactus. I will probably take it on the street occasionally. And hopefully on camping trip in the mountains this summer.

Based on everything that I have read here, I am leaning toward having the dealer install different tires before I take delivery. Shinko 244s?. Also, do any of you put slime in your tires? I have it in all of my other vehicles on the property, including my tractor due to the cactus.

I welcome your collective input on the tires.

I have slime in any bike with tubes, I like the 244’s too. You might want to drill a second set of holes in the fender or get the risers.
I have done neither and just run em.
Good luck!

Hi, welcome!

IMO the OEM tires are underrated tbh. They're quiet and they roll great for someone who is largely a city street menace to society, like me. The OEM tires (the rear one at least) have one of the highest weight and speed ratings for a dual sport tire that are available, and if you're someone who doesn't spend a lot of time on off road surfaces they're a great tire to run. So if you decide you don't want them, see if someone wants to buy them off you first.

Just at a glance, the Shinko 244's seem like a great fit for your needs and the stock tires would be a bad choice for your needs. The VRM-022's are also probably a great choice. I don't think I'd suggest the 241's. I would also think that the 13T front sprocket mod might be interesting to you, for more get up and go.

There is a Tires megathread that you might have seen already - the link is in my sig. It also covers the drilling fenders mod and the fender lift kit idea.

SD thanks for the feedback. Yes, I have read the Tire Megathread and, with that advice, I will probably go with the VRM-022's. I may just hang on to the OEM tires in case my riding habits change.
The 13T front sprocket is certainly an interesting option.
Again, I really appreciate all of the great info on this site.
BTW, I also have a Rokon that has 15" Bighorn Maxxis tires ans a Honda 200CC racing engine, which sounds like an oxymoron since top speed is about 30 mph. The larger engine provides incredible climbing power, even in the higher gears. Having dumped that thing a few times before I upgraded the tires, I appreciate what the right tires can do in an off road enviornment.
