Toolbox Upgrade (Apache 1800)

I used an Apache 1800 from Harbor Freight to upgrade my toolbox. Some cutting and drilling to an L bracket, a leftover extension from a tv mount, and Velcro for the inside. Total cost, $12.50.

FYI: The TV bracket connects from the back of the box to the reflector bracket for extra stability.

I am hearing from a FB group that the toolbox bracket (that it is attached to) tends to break. I am hoping the extra bracket to the reflector will stabilize it and prevent breaking.

That's funny, I've kept the same TV brackets from several installs and have repurposed them many times. I love to challenge myself and fabricate useful items from leftover parts from whatever. I need to post a picture of my homemade fly rod holders for my Jeep. People ask me all the time where I bought them!

I save stuff like that all the time just waiting for a use. I also I have 4 coffee cans filled with screws, nuts, and bolts. ;)

should be fine, that secondary bracket will def keep it from flexing and breaking the tool box mount. looks good to me
Thanks.

Plus, the L bracket I used is not a thick gauge steel and has some give to it. So, I figure that will absorb some of the stress.

Thanks for the input. I’m driving around the Maryland burbs. If I’m real lucky, I occasionally find a short stretch of gravel or dirt roads, that’s about it.

If I ever get it out to some rough terrain, I will remove it.
