So I'll admit this wasn't much of a ride, though it was the first trip I've taken my Trail on in the year I've owned it, also the most I've ridden it. Total miles over three days were just under 70, all of it riding mostly the streets around Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City, though I did do a couple of miles of trails and made the requisite lap around the lake just about sunset, which was great, but also windy on the North-side of the lake, just outside of Fawnskin.

This bike was truly in it's element in this area! I had worried that the elevation would be an issue as it had been on a Grom I used to own and once brought to this same area but other then taking an extra second or two of cranking to start, the Trail performed flawlessly! The speed limit in this area maxes-out at 40 so I found Third gear was where the bike was it's happiest. My only complaint was that I feel like it needs more aggressive tires for actual trail riding, but I'll resolve that before next month's trip.

Picking-up my Camper from storage near the Campground. I love my rack, but hated it being on the front of this truck. On my larger Silverado it seemed to work better then it did on my mid-sized Tacoma. It also messed-up the handling of the truck and blocked my front turn signals. Plus it looked weird before I picked-up the Camper.

Out for a ride around the lake. Would have gotten a more scenic pic but I was waiting for the rest of my group and wanted to stop in a place where they'd see me.

Camp. This bike looked very at home in this enviroment

My Trail on it's first Trail! Oh, and an Alpine meadow!

Going home. I was much happier hauling off the rear hitch as opposed to the front. Hitch carrier has an LED light strip which work as Trail/Brake and Turn Signals since my larger bikes tend to block the taillights on my smaller trucks.

Made another trip to Big Bear recently and had a great time riding my Trail again!

This time my intention hadn't been to bring my Trail, since I wanted to do more riding in the dirt this trip my plan had been to bring my TW200, however as I was getting ready to load my TW onto my truck, I dropped it and smashed the front brake lever  Couldn't get mad, it was my own fault; I was in a hurry but being limited on time meant that I didn't have time to replace the brake lever, so back into the garage with the TW, back onto my MC rack for the Trail!

The main purpose of this trip was to do some four-wheeling in my truck with my GF so I only logged 50 miles on my Trail this time; once around the lake Friday evening, then ~30 miles of Trail riding in the hills above Big Bear Lake.

In all I did about 20 miles in the dirt, most of it on graded fire roads but some of it was on washed-out roads. The hills are drying-out, however I did come across one active stream crossing, which the Trail did fine then another, deeper crossing which I wisely decided not to attempt as the water would have been over the engine!

I remain not a fan of the stock tires, especially off-road. The front tire washes-out very easily, especially on loose soil and gravel. I know I said it in my last report, then ran out of time before this trip (which this bike wasn't going to go on anyways) but I'll be adding a set of more aggressive tires to this bike soon. Hopefully next time I can report on the difference between the two types of tires on the same trails.

Here's just a couple of pics:

Our campsite. Much better view then the last one. For my GF's first camping trip she loved it!
