Thanks for the feedback.....I kind of figured that was what was going on.Its a 428 stock. its that simple. the model is a CT125. dealer will be hit or miss on accurate info.
As said im newbie and have a few other bikes but I don't mess around with them. That said if I made the front bigger and back smaller surely that would increase my speed ! Maybe slower on the pickup but cruising should be improved no !the gearing isnt limiting top speed, its the hp. just fyi. just pick up a 13t front sprocket for off road. leave the back alone. my .02
hmmm But you guys are swapping the cogs to make it pull better for trails, So it works one way but not the other lol.NOPE. doesn't work that way if you don't have enough horsepower, and the trail doesn't. in stock configuration it comes nowhere near redline in 4th gear wide open at max speed. theres posts about this elsewhere but trust me on this one.
Lol this is where my basic nut gets lost. I have the same legs but if I change gear (bigger front smaller rear) on my pedal bike I go faster. So why does this not work on a motorbike ? This is seriously warping my peanut lolYou would need a different tune on the bike to go faster. The Super Cub 125 is capable of (slightly) higher speeds (on flat ground) in part because it's tuned for more HP and less torque than the Trail is, along with the gearing (transmission gear ratios and rear sprocket).
Yeah ok I get ya now lol. It is that simple lol. SO the only way is to go for the 201cc upgrade hahahahThere's a decent explanation here. It's talking about transmission gears, but the same applies to final drive gearing.
Why can't higher speeds be achieved by just adding more gears to cars?
Answer (1 of 23): Have you ever tried this on a multi-speed bicycle? Go to a gear higher than you have strength for? What happens? You'll have to gear down to go any faster, not up. The optimum gear for top speed is simply the one that matches the power of the engine to the friction (mostly wind ...www.quora.com
Nope, £4500 in the UK, 201cc upgrade sorted for £1200 !be prepared to almost double your purchase price.
Daytona 212. Need a carb on top of that at £185 so £1385 in total and your driving. What kit are you looking at?
If you're talking about swapping in a Chinese cate motor expect a lot more parts to replace or install, some that will require fabrication by you or someone else, and lots of labor. You might need engine mount modifications and other clearance mods to fit the engine, you'll need to sort out the air filter, sort out throttle cables, and you'll have a lot of electronics to sort out for TPS, ignition timing, etc. It's probably best to find answers and price everything out before you unexpectedly end up with a bunch of time and money into the bike and it's still not finished while you could have been riding it in the meantime just slower, or a bunch of time and money into the bike and you've got a 2xxcc bike that isn't what you hoped it would be, requires a lot of upkeep, and is as sketchy to ride as an 8hp Briggs & Stratton powering a folding bicycle. Depending on where you are the bike may also no longer be street legal. Just words of caution, if you're up for doing it more power to you and I'd love to see it, just don't expect it to be cheap and easy.Daytona 212.
