    Upgraded mirrors

I installed a set of Doubletake mirrors on my 2023 last weekend and they look great! A little lower than the stock mirrors but the field of view is phenomenal and I love that I can adjust them however I want without needing any tools. They’re a little spendy at $145 for the pair but totally...

    Loud pop noise when shifting

Did the clutch adjustment right after making that comment when I realized I forgot to do it during the 600 mile service. It’s wild how easy the clutch adjustment is! I thought it was going to be some kind of fussy and technical thing but it took all of 5 minutes and was probably the easiest bit...

    Loud pop noise when shifting

850 miles in on my 2023 and I’m now getting the same hollow metallic “pop” when I shift up or down. Turns out I forgot that the clutch was supposed to be adjusted at the 600 mile mark so I did that this evening and it seems to have solved the problem. Yay for Honda making the process so simple!

    Well it comes with....

Honda absolutely needs to come out with a “Trail Boss” CT250 or CT300. Lengthen the frame about 15%-25%, give it a double length seat standard, and find a way to fit some more built-in storage options. They tried something similar with their scooter line when they made the “Big Ruckus” but it...

2023 600 mile service... Standby for news!

Great info as always, dmonkey! I did my 600 mile maintenance yesterday, all with parts ordered on Amazon. Ended up with the MP-01 since I didn’t know about the MP-01T, started ordering the wrong oil filter (Amazon recommends a 2-pack of ATV filters that don’t fit) but eventually got the right...

    2023 Crash bar mounting

I don’t have these yet but one thing I really appreciate about this design is the crossbar that connects the two sides of the crash bars to help distribute the load. The new crash bars that showed up on Amazon recently don’t have that and it seems pretty important.

    Star Wars!

Interesting choices. The R2D2 seems like the clear winner here. A shame they don’t release these in the USA because I know a couple of Star Wars fanatics who would definitely pick one up if they could. I bet it would look amazing if they did a Dax up in gold with a C-3PO theme. I really wish...

    Just bought my '23 Trail

Man, I like that yellow more and more every time I see it! Love that black rack, too. I might end up needing to paint the rack on my 2023 greenie to match. Welcome to the club! 🍻

2023 600 mile service... Standby for news!

Thanks for the write up! I just hit the 600 mile mark on mine a couple days ago and will be doing this over the weekend. Went ahead and picked up a Gold Plug while I was at it thanks to the advice of the fine folks in these forums. Vroom vroom! 🏍️

Suggestions for discreet urban riding boots?

I ended up buying a Merlin waxed canvas jacket that came with D-30 armor on the elbows, shoulders, and back, and wear it every time I ride. It’s got a nice vintage look that fits the bike well and the armor pockets are well positioned and keep everything in place. The only thing I don’t like...

Still looking in the SF Bay

I highly recommend Parriott Motors up in St. Helena (Napa area), great people and good prices. They spent 20 minutes or so helping me wrestle the bike into my car and get it strapped down You’ll still end up paying through the nose since license and registration are super high in California but...

    Right side cover removal

I joined the broken left tab club today too, while removing the side cover to install the exhaust crash bar that everybody ends up buying once they realize how easy it is to damage the exhaust shroud. I don’t know how anybody manages to remove the cover *without* breaking that clip, because I...

    Gear Indicator

After 400 miles I’ve gotten mostly used to the shifting and probably won’t add a gear indicator, or at least won’t add it in my first couple rounds of mods. 98% of the time it’s not a problem to mentally keep track of the gear I’m in, but in tricky stop and go traffic situations I will...

Suggestions for discreet urban riding boots?

I ended up just buying some 8" steel toe wedge boots for the time being. I’d been wearing a pair of 6" Wolverine wedge boots but they don’t have a shank or safety toe and despite being tall-ish they don’t provide a lot of ankle support...

    Auxiliary lighting

Any suggestions for adding lights to make myself more visible at night without blinding other drivers? I’ve been finding myself on the road in heavy city traffic at dusk and in the evenings a lot and it’s pretty easy for drivers to miss such a small bike with a dim headlight.
