    13 tooth front sprocket

It comes down to this: a 13 will help you maintain speed in hilly terrain. It won't cut your top speed enough to notice. The 125 engine doesn't really have the power to pull a 15 effectively.

What do you think of the bike now?

Happiness with the bike has a lot to do with the roads you ride. Works fine here in rural Texas, but I stay off the divided highways. Not bad offroad, but it demands a casual attitude and speed. Just the ticket for a lot of older riders.

    Off-Road Opportunities in West Texas

I've ridden all the trails in Big Bend over the past five years or so. Did it the first time with a Kawasaki KLX 250 carefully prepared for off-road. My Trail 125 has suspension mods, trials tires, a 13 tooth front sprocket, and a bunch of other mods that have little effect on off-roading. Had...

    Off-Road Opportunities in West Texas

Agreed on the River Road and Old Ore Road. But Maverick is not so bad. If alone, take a satellite phone and stay out of the extreme heat. Many miles of beautiful 45 mph paved roads too.

    Rebuilt forks still seem soft

Sorry things are not right yet with those forks. It has been suggested elsewhere to increase the oil level a little bit. Maybe 20 or 30 more cc per leg?

    Off-Road Opportunities in West Texas

Well, the mother of all Trail 125 off-road areas is Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park-just 20 miles apart. Two hundred plus miles of trails-most of which are just fine on the Trail 125. Other lesser known areas include Buffalo Springs Lake just south-east of Lubbock. The lake is...

Should I get an old 110 or a new 125?

Watch Craigslist and be willing to drive a little. There are plenty of red 125s out there now for $3500-$4000 with very low miles.

Anyone running low psi without rim locks?

Yeah, 15 or 20 pounds are as low as I would go. I've run a couple hundred miles of desert in the low 20s and it seems to do just fine. But I will underline what others have said. These thin tubes tend to lose air a little faster than on full sized dirt bikes. Watch your air pressures!

    Rebuilt forks still seem soft

Agreed, but if you have the problem that I had where the spring rate is simply too soft for your weight, no amount of preload will fix things. A heavier spring will be needed.

    Rebuilt forks still seem soft

See my post titled Large rider fixes for the front and rear suspension from 2023. Should cure the excessive sag.

Option for rear shock, not yss

    Sorry to hear that.

First REAL ride on my scoot

Depending on how many miles you have already ridden it, you may notice an increase in power after a few hundred miles. My bike seemed to pick up 10 or 20% when I hit 300 miles.

Angle Iron Replaces Original Tool Box/Side Rack Mounting Tabs

Last Spring, I posted a thread about mounting a plastic ammo box on a side rack to carry all my flat tire fix supplies. After 80 miles off-road this Fall in Big Bend National Park, the mounting tabs broke off the original luggage rack, causing the ammo box and the original little toolbox to...

    Winch on a ct125?

In all my years of off-roading, it never occurred to me to have a winch on a dirtbike. Congratulations for thinking outside the box. I haven't had the 125 in situations that precarious, but there were a few times when I had to get off my old Trail 90 and walk alongside in first gear in low...

Desert riding vs everywhere else ive ridden

The deep sand especially makes desert riding challenging. A full knobby front tire helps, but in deep sand, the 125's rear wheel can dig in and arrest all forward motion. I used to think deep sand was a pain when riding full on dirt bikes. But the Trail 125 definitely escalates the struggle...
