    Placeholder: 1k mile/24hour run

    Those Ram mounts with the hole in the middle like you broke are very weak. I've had them break several times. Use the one like shown in SneakyDingo post above yours and it will not fail. Or at least not as easy.

    Sorry, this happened to you Fishwishin. But I've heard of more drain plugs stripped with torque wrenches than otherwise. Torque specs are for clean threads NOT lubricated threads!     Gear Indicator

    FWIW The switch (sensor) just make contact to ground at different places (contacts) on the switch, to change the gear numbers. No magnets involved, nothing magnetic on it.

    Anyone make their own side rack?

    I had an aftermarket rack that mounted to the two tool kit holes and the taillight/reflector bolt. The tool kit mount failed after about one hundred miles with a one gallon rotopax on it. If you're building your own you may want to design it to mount directly on to the rear rack by some other means.
