Trail boss before I forget the white bike on the left side of the picture is a 2013 Yamaha tw 200. Well today was a pretty good day the trail 125 now has 205 miles on her and It’s really starting to loosen up. Even with the starting and stopping and constantly changing throttle position it achieved 113 mpg so when she’s broken in and operated properly I’m thinking 125-135 mpg should be obtainable. The seat is not as comfortable as the monkey but because you can stand without bending your arms it’s not a big deal. The road manners of this little bike is amazing. I rode my monkey this morning and it’s cramped and a little twitchy because of the small tire but the trail feels like a bigger bike then it is. Very smooth and corners predictably. I will update as I have more information.

Thanks fl352 for your welcome message. Well she’s all ready to ride now,I finished the 300 mile break in with the last 75 miles of brief down hill full throttle bursts along with the constant stop and go. And the last 25mile of 3/4 - full throttle uphill pulls and I was happy to see it was not struggling much. Now this was a moderate hill but one you wouldn’t want to ride a bicycle up. I could feel by the way she was pulling that she was pretty much broke in so at about 290 I started some 5-10 second full throttle runs ending in a long off throttle coasting. And at 300 miles I was able to get 57.9 mph on a slight downhill grade. It seems to really feel best at 50 mph. Because of the higher rpm and more aggressive takeoffs the last fuel top off got 99.36 mpg not bad considering that there’s no way that anyone would ride that inefficiently unless they were purposely trying to get horrible fuel mileage. Other than the dealers tank of gas it has and whenever possible will be run on ethanol free fuel,I’m happy that with fuel injection it’s not mandatory but I still prefer to keep it full of ethanol free. Now for some sad news I bought a monkey last year because my 74 trail 90 is to nice to hang off the back of the RV hoping that Honda would finally bring back a trail version of the new cub. So to keep the wife happy and because the trail 125 does everything and more that the monkey can do it was time for it to go the monkey was a lot of fun but not exactly practical. Even with the larger rack that I made it was more of a toy then a useful do everything anywhere motorcycle. So If you live near North Carolina I would like to put a word in for Honda of North Carolina in Granite falls North Carolina. My sales persons name is brandy and she is very pleasant to work with. the owner and his family are longtime Honda dealers and big Honda collectors. They are 4 hours away from me but with the monkey and now the trail I’m happy that I discovered them. Nice people. I hope that my rambling has been somewhat useful I have several small changes planned first one is to install my yellow strobe on the back of the bike and to replace the heel toe shifter with a conventional shifter. Honda has modified the original heel toe and added a regular rubber toe shifter so the heel section really isn’t needed and can be in the way when standing on the pegs. I will update information on oil samples and mods later. I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving and that your trail 125s come in soon. Thanks joe

Is that a phone app in the third picture?
Thanks
Yes it’s called Max speed and I was surprised how accurate the trails Speedo was. I’m working on finishing up my strapless tie down system now. I’m Trying get ready for our Christmas vacation. It’s not done but you will get the basic idea. I will post again when it’s done.

Thanks!
I installed it. Whether I can operate it is another matter.
Nice looking rig.

Guy named Joe,

Did you replace your shifter? If so, which one and how is is working for you? I have only rode my CT125 20 miles and did not like the shifter. I could not get my boot under it and used the heel to upshift and my toe to downshift but it wasn't natural and I had to adjust my riding position. This weekend I was going to try and adjust the shifter height and see if that helps.

I did just adjust mine, I hope I like it, loctited the foot peg bolts back in. I did the kicker earlier. My tip again, once you get used to it it is automatic, tap the rear shifter down with your toe, then tap the front down to downshift. I don't think it is designed for your heel, we call it the flip flop shifter in these parts!

Felt a bit different, after a few rides I'll bet I don't even notice. Felt like I had to click it up higher, which you do.... the toe tap on the back was more like the OG 90.

I changed my shifter so the front would be higher today as we had good weather. I only rode a around the neighborhood but really liked the difference. I will probably order the larger foot pegs so it will help while standing.

I have a Monkey and a SuperCub and to be honest, the CT could easily replace both of them. Town bike, delivery bike, off road adventure bike. Can't say that about the other two.
