Hello everyone. I am interested in learning more about my bike and how to take care of it. I would like to get the service manual.

I have a 2022 trail but I notice that both places I see the manuals for sale only have the 2021 version - I do not believe there is any difference so would I be set with the 2021 manual?

Also any opinions on the two vendors?

I was also thinking about picking up the common manual - as some people commented that some parts of the ct125 manual direct you there for information.

Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a 2022 Honda Trail 125. As far as I can tell, the only difference from the 2021 model is a $100 price increase.
I bought the 2021 service manual from Helm and it cost a fortune. I did not get the common manual either yet.

Agreed, no differences between 2021 and 2022 years.
I have the common manual, you can skip it for regular maintenance, it would be of use for more involved things like a rebuild.

Agreed with skipping the common manual. So far I have only used it to explain how the transmission works to someone. I also think it's a good idea to ask people just to share a copy of the specific page you're interested in, until you realize that owning your own copy of the manual would actually be useful enough. Most people are happy to take photos. I'd definitely own it if you want to heavily modify the wiring.

If you are outside the US and want to order a manual from one of the sources mentioned, here is how postage costs vary between the two. (Just in case you are wondering, I didn't go with Helmic's $244.89 for post ! )

I have the common manual. It seems to be much like the ones I have for my other motos. Had it not come with my Trail I don't think I would have missed having it as these bikes really aren't hard to maintain or work on and there is a wealth of knowledge in places like this for things which you might be fuzzy on.

Now if you plan on modding your Trail, that may be another story. Mine is going to stay basically stock.

Also, if I'm not mistaken your Owners Manual should be in your the tool box with your tool kit.

I thought the common manual was also a Helm published book…. I can’t imagine how the owners manual would fit in the tool box.

I am surprised that the use of the "common manual" has been suggested. I have Honda's Common Manual and while it is a great resource for understanding the principles of servicing and repairing a "common" motorbike, it is of very little use when I need to learn about an operation that is specific to one model of motorbike. I have gladly paid for a full workshop manual for every bike I have owned. It is money well spent, ensuring the work done will be correct for that model, not just what may work with motorbikes in general.

I agree and literally have a shelf in my garage dedicated to all the model-specific manuals for Bikes/ATV's/Cars/Trucks I own or have owned through the years. TBH Though I find myself referring to them less and less as most of the time I can find the answer to whatever I'm looking for faster on-line. Still good refrences to have though. I own a truck and a Honda MC, both of which are from the '60's, both are rare models and there isn't much on-line for either of them, so the Service Manuals I have for them get used a lot!

I'm just going by what I was told. By Owners Manual I mean the small pamphlet. I bought my Trail used and the PO had removed the Tool Box and couldn't find the manual when I bought the bike so I've yet to see one in-person.
