The 2025 Scooter Cannonball has officially been announced to the public!

The 11th installment of the Scooter Cannonball will start in Seaside, Oregon, on June 22, 2025, and end in South Padre Island, Texas, on June 29th. Registration opens in June 2024 for both returning riders and first-time participants.

More info: https://scootercannonball.com/2025

Though there are some who might have their feathers ruffled if you call the CT125 a "scooter", it is an eligible scoot for the event. This forum's own @G19Tony participated in and completed the 2023 SCB on a Trail 125.

Anyone planning to participate, on a Honda Trail 125 or otherwise?

I’m going to do it again, but on my Honda ADV160 this time.

The ADV160 seems like it will be a much more enjoyable ride. Looking forward to following along.

There is a note that pertains to scooters such as the GTS 300 on the SCB 2025 page.
Re: Maxi Scooters
The event's scoring handicap favors scooters within the 125-200cc displacement range. As a result, higher displacement scooters are effectively mathematically eliminated and are participating in a non-competitive capacity.

In addition to being a "Trail 125" in the USA and Canada, Honda's model designation for it across all markets is "CT125A" (A for ABS).

It is on my bucket list but I'm not sure next year is in the cards for me. If that changes, I don't know if I'd do it on Booger or get something else.

For 2023, I believe the Trail got a specific waiver to participate even though it did not meet the 3/5 criteria. It looks like the requirements are different this year and only require 2 of the requirements to be met for sub-150cc. I could be wrong, though.

I am (almost) officially in for 2025. I submitted the time off and blocked my calendar at work today. I successfully avoided the urge to buy another bike specifically for this so far and now have a second set of wheels on the way.

Hey @G19Tony, if you’ve got any parts you aren’t going to need for the run, I’m only 4 hours away 1718825006416.png

But... you could have new bike day...

I’ll still do that but just probably not for this event. I just considered how much money I plan on throwing at this event and I thought maybe I should start with a bike I already paid for. Mostly going to be ‘new parts day’ weekly for the next 6 months.

Looking at the nav system Itchy Boots uses now.

Things are already getting crazy. Aside from one person in particular poopoo-ing the idea of using my Trail on the cannonball over on their forum, I just ordered an 8" Navigation tablet and a mini Nav Tower.

I might need to upgrade the suspension just to deal with all the extra weight on the bars.

I think that as someone who's already done a shakedown ride on the Trail and reflected on the results, you're in a better position to set and manage your expectations for a SCB run on the slowest of slow Turtle 125 🐢 than someone who hasn't. That you are pursuing an unofficial Saddle Sore 1k attempt before then will only leave you better informed of how you feel about it. If it doesn't feel right you can pick up that preassembled pile of shiny new parts instead ✨

Which navigation tablet did you decide on?

I ordered a ThorkRacing DMD T-865 which is an 8" tablet. I guess there was some friction between Carpe-Iter and the Thork guys and they no longer work together. I've read about CI being less responsive to customers.

Edit: It isn't cheap but neither are Garmin products and they are just as buggy and hard to use as anything else. Aside from not participating in the shared misery of the Garmin folks, I don't see too much of a downside.

I'm also hedging my bets and not buying anything for Booger that can't be transferred to another bike should I change my mind.

When I saw this thread I gave it some thought. I think I missed-out last year when the start was ~40 mins from where I live. Not having to haul (or ship) me and my bike to a distant start (or finish line) would save me a lot of time and money.

Basically what I'm saying is I hope you all have a great time and I hope to join you on a future one LOL!

I am trailering my bike up to Oregon and then back from TX with my wife driving as support with tons of spare parts. The trailer will have room for another bike...

Plus, you could join the team I am trying to put together

There being five potential CT125 riders for SCB 2025 certainly has me excited, those are my people! I'll be cheering y'all on over the internet.
I had plans to participate in the Cross Country Chase this year (2024), but there was an absence of updates from the organizers and then an announcement that it has been postponed a year. Unless it gets scrubbed again, that will likely be my spendy touring event for 2025.

IF I can get all of the Trail125 riders (or at least enough) together on a 'team,' I will get a uHaul and we can be fully self-supported without the need for anyone else at the event. There are some people with pretty big chips on their shoulders and I'd just as soon distance myself from them. We can have our own competition within the competition and forget everyone else.
