A few questions

As I wait for the opportunity to own my first ever but 50 year desire to own a Honda Trail I have some questions for the many.

Will you be adding a charging/power connection for charging the battery and/or axillary power?

What is your thought about adding a GPS Tracking device to your trail bike? This bike could easily be picked up and carried off by two average sized people.

If you do have or going to have a crate on the cargo rack, will there be a pad of some sort in between?

For now, I elected not to add a power connection for charging - since the bike has a kickstart option that will get her going even with a totally flat (or even disconnected) battery. I do have one sitting in the garage if I ever change my mind. Given how I plan to use the bike, an auxillary power connection (like a USB port) is not of much use to be, but may be to others! It seems to be a popular mod.

theft is not a big concern where I live and plan to use the bike. I have had small bikes (rebels and shadow) before without any incident. I am relying on insurance!

I used some felt tape between the crate and the rack. Picked it up from amazon. Good stuff! link below.

I add a charging cable to every bike I've ever owned. Batteries last longer with them. I also added a voltmeter with USB chargers. Knowing your battery voltage is invaluable.

I secreted one of these on my bike. https://www.invoxia.com/us I'm of the opinion that these will be high theft items, and I feel better having it.

I didn't put anything between my Apache 4800 and the rack. I'm eventually going to crash, so a few scratches isn't going to bug me. No bike stays perfect forever, unless you don't ride it.

Welcome aboard! There is a lot of great people and good information here.

i added a port because the mount was there. just in case, why not. as far as the crate, no, just bolted to the rack. i also never leave my bikes where they can get lifted off and stolen. (garage/pit bulls and such) If they do, i have theft coverage anyway.

May I ask which power port and where you purchased? I read somewhere the rebel accessory will fit

The rebel accessory fits the bracket, but the wiring plug doesn't match up. I cut the plug off and wired direct to the battery.

2 people are not going to be able to pick up and carry this beast, heavier then our 450x’s! 275+#’s ??? And awkward s heck.

No charging port or gps for me, this is more of a fun bike for us, just twist and go. I find myself monkeying too much with electronic doo dads on a ride, just cruising with the phone in my pocket works great. As far as the battery charging port (to charge the bike battery) we have them on the 4 big bikes, they suffer from operator error, aka I never plug them in!! The lipos are hard to kill though.

Does that not cause the 12v to 5v conversion to drain the battery - or is there a switch somewhere?

I put in a DIN connector into the aux plug hole next to instrument/Speedo gauge. Its used on European bikes and is like a 1/4 size US cigarette lighter socket. They have a dual USB plug in to go to into that with both the old and new USB plug in if you have a newer phone. You can also get a two prong charging/aux connector ended one too. I was going to wire to the positive terminal of the battery and the ground plug bolt to pull and push power as required.

It's just a 12v cigarette lighter type socket, no 5v conversion and I didn't bother with a on off switch.

It's all 12 volt...I connected my Amazon dual USB port to the headlamp wiring so they're only on when ignition is on...

Sorry...don't know why pics can't be attached anymore...
