Bike randomly turned off

I was about halfway home, sitting at a light and the bike decided to turn off. I was able to simply press the power button to turn it back on but would like to investigate. What should I check on the bike? Or should I take it to the dealer since it’s still under warranty?

You're not the only one who's encountered this: https://hondatrail125.com/index.php?threads/stall-in-traffic.1173/
Unless you're able to reproduce the issue, a dealer won't have much to work off of other than checking cable connections. The sidestand has a switch where it will kill the engine if the motorcycle is in gear and the sidestand is deployed, could have been a hickup with that. Easy enough to take it apart and clean it.

How about bypassing the safety switch? Not that I would suggest such a dangerous activity but for testing purposes only.

For testing, should be fine. Even if you elected to run it somewhat permanently, should be ok too, IIRC they sell deletion kits for that. Could be a mean trick to play on someone to make a plug that constantly closes the switch so the bike won't start... hmm...

That has happened to me twice, both times I pulled in to park and before I could reach for the key it just shut off. 900+ miles now and I hope that don’t happen any more, but I did want the bike off, so it was ok both times. 😀

The sidestand switch is actually open when the kickstand is down, closed when the kickstand is up. The bypass is just a plug and wire loop that closes the circuit to simulate the kickstand always being up. So if it were to misbehave, it would be that the circuit is not closing when the kickstand goes up. I eliminated the switch on my CT125. Not saying that's the issue, just something to consider. Some Honda Super Cub 125 owners report similar stalling issues, so I'd suspect it might be something else.

A little water in the fuel can cause them to stall as well. If it happens again, once you top it off with good gasoline, and maybe a little water dispersing fuel additive, then I would diagnose further.
