Bought it, now will probably sell it

My daily motorcycle is a 2021 NC750X and I been wanting to buy the new Trail 125 since they came out. My local three dealers all have a waiting list 20 deep with mandatory deposits. Two of these dealers have a $1500 and $2000 mark up on them when they show up. I found a small town dealer 3 hours away and bought it there for MSRP + $100 set up. I rented a Uhaul van and picked it up.

Now for my first ride. The ergonomics of the trail is terrible for me. I’m only 5’7 and I have to sit all the way to the rear of the seat and then I’m hitting the bar. My back was killing me after the ride, I think it had to do with the riding position also. I’m not a fan of the clutchless transmission also. I will give it a few more rides to make my decision. I still have to wait until the title shows up to sell it. I guess I had rose tinted glasses on about owning the Trail.

Make some adjustments and give it another try. I had experence with a 1984 trail 110 and now the trail 125, I'm 5' 10" and find it comfortable. It is a "Trail" bike so it's not the same as a dedicated off road bike or like your 750 road bike, it is more like a little donkey...it just keeps going!

I put on 20 miles today. I have come to the conclusion that the seat is the problem, not the seat itself but where Honda put it. I feel they put the seat too far forward. If it was 6 inches farther back, it would be find. Why did they have to put that bar there? I have read on here I’m not alone with this problem.

a ridge overlooking Lake Guntersville, AL.
Put some split pipe insulation around the bar. Will allow you to slide back a little. Also get some handle bar risers and also pivot the stock handle bar clamp mount around which will move the handle bar forward about an inch. I'm 5'10" with 30 inch inseam and had same problem. These bikes are made for smaller people mostly Asians I think. My wife is Korean at 5'4 with short legs and it fits her perfect. I also have a back rest on my milk crate. It has 8 velcro straps and lets me move it around onto the various Milwaukee Packout bags and tool boxes I snap mount to their base plate depending on what I am doing with bike that day.CT125allmods1.jpg

Maybe the long seat is your solution. I'm 6'1" and plan on making whatever mods I need to get "Scooter" just right. I ordered a long seat 3 weeks ago from BANCHA SUTUMRUK and it arrived today. As I fully expected from the reviews, it's a little hard. So, I took it to a custom motorcycle seat shop around the corner to see what could be done. They agreed that not having to start from scratch was going to make it a lot easier and less expensive. All that they need to do is take off the pleather cover, add some high grade foam to the top and wrap it in a higher grade marine vinyl. Easy peazy ... lemon squeezy. I've got no problem spending a little more money to make sure "Scooter" is comfortable. Otherwise, I won't take him out much and that would really be a waste of a lot more money.

Oh, and if you decide to sell it, don't feel bad. You'll certainly get your money back and someone (who's probably been on a waiting list forever) will be very very happy.
