Built a wood basket for my Trail

Wanted a basket for my trail, but I have a long seat on it and couldn't find anything I liked. Decided to make one from some walnut. Still working on a bungee net that will fit nicely on the top of it, but wanted to post some pictures. It's solid walnut with tung oil finish.

I had some rubber that I tried to put on, but since there's gaps in the mounting surface and the outside rails are pretty thin it want working well. I opted to just mount it straight to the rack. It was already scratched up a bit from hauling my wife's car battery to the store one day when her car was dead and she drove mine. So I'm not too worried about it.

Thanks for reminding me how bad I am at woodworking. Looks great.
I assure you I only took pictures of the good angles lol. I don't consider myself a good woodworker, I think I got a little lucky with this. A number of years ago I was burning out on car/motorcycle projects and decided I was going to do some woodworking, but with hand tools. That lasted about 3 weeks before I realized I don't have the patience for it. I bought a nice bandsaw, router table, planer, and other small tools but didn't use them much. Moved houses, played around with machine tools and metal, life got in the way, etc. For whatever reason I got the itch a few weeks ago and pulled out that walnut I've had for years and just went to town. I think because it had been so long since I used all the tools and I was forced to clean/reset them up, it actually went smoother than usual.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I meant the bottom of the box itself. .02
I gotcha, probably a good idea especially with stuff bouncing around since I ride primarily off-road-ish. I'll have to order something since I don't have any that large.

**hides his Lie Nielsen hand planes behind him**

I'm really glad I have them, because I've used just about all of them a lot, but I wouldn't say no to a table saw.

Lol, I still have my hand tools, but use them as supporting tools and do the majority of the large material removal with machines. There a few lie Nielsen planes I'm still planning on buying in the future. I have no interest in owning a table saw though. They take up way too much space and are dangerous. I use a track saw and miter saw to break down large boards and plywood.

The woodworking gene skipped a generation in my family as well; my Dad was great at it, my Grandfather and I not so much, however my Grandfather (before he passed a few yars ago) and I can fab metal, so there's that.

A few years ago a neighbor passed away and his family asked if I wanted anything (or all of) the tools he had in a woodshop he'd built and worked in for years in his backyard. It was all very old but very high-quality and in good condtion, but space was an issue. I did take his 6' tall Drill Press. It's a Craftsman (I forget the model and am too lazy to go out to my garage to check) and is about 80 years old. Works great, though it rarely gets to work with wood anymore. Several times in my life I've turned-down free Table Saws, mainly because I know I'd use them very rarely and I just don't have the space to store a tool that size which will only get used every couple of years.
