Clunk when shifting

Haven't ridden the CT a whole lot but ran it to work and back so far this week. All was well until it felt like the pedal didn't return after a shift. Have since put it on the stand and manipulated the shifter. Engine on and engine off. Clunk sounds like it originates on right side of the motor.
Does it just need a clutch adjustment or does it sound a little more serious than that?

For peace of mind I literally did a clutch adjustment on my wife's '22 in about 1 1/2 minutes and she was happy with how much smoother it was after the adjustment.

Adjusted the clutch yesterday. Screw position ultimately changed by about an 1/8th of a turn. Machine was cold when I did it and clunking that had been evident before wasn't there. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Rode to work this AM (only couple miles) and had no issues. Will see how it is later when things get hotter outside resulting in the motor running hotter still.

Clutch is very finicky on these bikes it seems. But once you get it right…
I'm waiting to see if the clunk occurs again. Not entirely convinced it was the clutch. It has been smooth as butter since new.
It literally came outta nowhere, all of a sudden didn't feel like the pedal was returning and clunkkkkkk.
The adjustment I made certainly didn't hurt.
I'll have to take a longer way home and see how it runs with more heat and multiple actuations.

Clutch adjustment, then new oil after looking at how long it's been since I did the last change has been my go-to. Consistent shifting since about the 800 mi mark with that approach. The other thing that helped was the shifter stabilizer, but I think that's more of an optional accessory (particularly if you don't get many missed shifts). The adjustment and good oil make a much bigger difference.
