Most people who buy this bike talk about how easy it is for both older riders and new riders to ride, and if we're talking about throwing a leg over it and taking off along a nice rd they're right. The low seat height, low weight, no clutch and forgiving ergonomics make all the difference. However if we're talking about offroad or trail riding then it becomes a very hard bike to ride at times. The very things that help you on a country lane start to work against you on a steep rocky incline. Suddenly gear selection and changes, speed and reading the terrain become the key to success. Riding this bike well off-road is more about making good decisions than anything else. Most of the really bad sections I want to ride, I first ride on my atv. I want to make sure in my mind I can take the ct125 there first of all, and second I'm mentally trying to create routes thru the bad parts, when I'm on the atv I'm thinking about the ct125, mentally picking my way, then I think about it until I'm pretty sure I can make it. Kind of like a rock climber visualize a route, I do the same thing. It would be impractical to just pick a mining road and start down or up a mountain on this little bike, but with planning, mentally riding the road and being as prepared as possible you can take this bike to amazing places, but it ain't easy.
