I'm sure most of you have heard of Ed March and his old c90 going around the world. Him and his girlfriend also did the TAT.
yes I have put down a deposit on the ct125..
But when will it ever get here ? Makes me wonder ? Just buy the super cub and have at it..what's you folks opinions?

My first reaction to this is that the c125 is not geared quite as low as the ct125, and the c125 is just too pretty. Too easy to damage. No skid plate, wrong suspension, bad wheel size in the front, harder to modify, harder to pack up with luggage, no kick start,, and just all around not designed for any kind of off road use. I wouldnt want to be on the TAT when that key FOB fails....

Anyway what im saying is if you're planning to be on the dirt at all its worth waiting.

If you're buying it for the TAT, that's mostly unpaved so the CT125 is better equipped for it from the start. In addition to what's already been mentioned here, the CT125 is tuned for more torque at the expense horsepower, it has a reinforced frame, it comes with both the side stand and center stand, it has an air intake snorkel useful for the water crossings in Tennessee on the TAT, the rear disc brake will likely do better on mountain descents, and it has a larger fuel tank. Just like the C90, they're both going to be slow and underpowered for large portions of the TAT which will be hard on you as the rider. If that's the challenge you're looking for then great, if not, there are other bikes within $1-2k of the C125 and CT125 that start off much more capable before throwing money into accessories and upgrades, especially if you're buying used.

There's a good comparison video here:

Thanks Guys..
I'll wait for the Trail .
I did go by the Honda shop In Sedalia Missouri. Was in town to get a tractor tire fixed.... Looked at a 2021 super Cub. You're right. It's beautiful 😍..
Not what I'd take off road .
But.. dang it !! I could've bought it today ! 😂
If there'd been a trail, I would have.
But someday... I'll have both.. a trail and a super cub.
I want to find one of the older super cubs.

i've got a 1981 Honda C70 that runs and rides quite well. Only thing off with it is the electric start, so it's kick start only. thats a lot more like what Ed March and his wife were riding. (it's for sale).

trouble is you'd have to make a journey to Charleston SC 🙃

Ang and Johnny Pow are currently doing it on the channel Some Guy Rides. There are two main issues that I can see arising from using the Supercub over the CT125, and one main benefit, with a few smaller side-benefits. It's worth noting that JP has some serious skills, and Ang does not, so watching this is getting very Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance vibes from it but for riding styles.

By far, the biggest issue that comes to mind is that the C125 and CT125 have different gearing. There's two episodes that cover the trouble that you'll hit with it. I crunched the numbers at one point, and due to elevation they were basically pushing overloaded bikes up bad terrain with about 5 hp. It was the sort of thing that if you had known that was going to be the case, a -2T sprocket change on the front for only this section would have been pretty appealing. The CT90 had the high-low range gearbox but even Ed March had trouble on that section, and he sort of glosses over it, but low oxygen + pushing the bike + bad conditions = bad time. There's plenty of sections of the TAT where Ang is gear 1/2'ing it, and that will probably be mostly gear 1 for the C125.

Second main issue I can see? Carrying stuff. On the CT125 there's a lot more strap on points. It's fine and dandy for me to judge Ang from the comfort of my chair, but he's carrying WAY more stuff than I'd want to be carrying on such a trip.

Now, if you were selective with the TAT and knew what you were doing? You might be able to skip those portions and actually have a good time.

The main benefit is the same as the biggest issue: the gearing. There's large portions of the trail that Ang says he had trouble with where the taller gearing and the ability to go faster would be useful. Again, he's also limited by how much stuff he's carrying on the bike.

The series is astonishingly good and I highly recommend watching it.

I have been hit with the same problem as you. Waiting, no news, even pinged the dealer to ask and got crickets. Talked to Motosport Hillsboro who as of Saturday or Sunday had the only CT125 shipment I've seen within 500 mi of Seattle (ever) - of course it was spoken for, but they offered me a C125 over the phone. 3 months ago I would have been all, "NO WAY" but honestly, I really took a moment and had to think really hard whether I wanted to wait. Ultimately I decided not to buy it, but... f**k me, I really had to think about it. FWIW, Brandon from Motosport Hillsboro and Lynette, the online coordinator - you're both fantastic people, and if I end up picking up mine in any way that remotely comes close to you, I'm dropping in to say hi to both of you.

Thanks!! I will definitely watch that.
Yes, I still have to wait..
But at least I have an arrival date.. January 22nd! I know I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it.
I live in the Ozarks area of Missouri.. north side of Truman lake.
Bazillion side roads..and gravel.
Looking forward to slowing down and enjoying the ride.
