Hello All,
My 2021 Honda CT 125 is putting out a noise that I am concerned about. The video reveals the clinking sound that I find troublesome. Perhaps all is well but the sound is unusual for Honda. The bike has recent oil change and only 1300 miles. Please leave a comment with thoughts, ideas etc.
Thank you!

did the oil change include clearing out the oil spinner? the little spring that tensiones the triangular actuator plate. might not be back in and its rattling around in there (the plate)

Thanks for the feedback guys.

There is no noticeable exhaust leaks nor evidence of condensation buildup; however, I'm not sure what that would look like. I guess the next step there would be to remove the muffler to drain if necessary.

The 1200 mi. oil change did nit include the spinner maint. But the bike is a recent purchase and the previous owner stated the first oil change was done by his dealer at 600mi. Do you have some idea what effect the misplaced spring / other parts would have on performance? The engine seems to run perfectly fine. Next step here is remove the case cover and inspect.

take oil fill cap off, run bike on centerstand, see if it gets louder. (its going to mist oil) if its louder, then there's something bouncing around in there more than likely. before all that, make sure all the skid plate and exhaust shields are tight.

Certainly something has come loose or failed. The only thing that should make any noise is the top-end.... ie. head/rockerarms..

It could be a loose valve adjustment or the lock nut backed off, that's a good point. It -sounds- lower end to me, but, digital video can make things sound strange.

The problem was with the cam chain tension system. The tensioning spring and plunger were installed into the housing out of order; spring first and then the plunger. Found the twisted spring once pulled the flywheel. Running super smooth and quiet now. :)
Appreciate the feedback.IMG_4778.jpgIMG_4780.jpg
