What do y’all keep in your lockboxes, sidekick yeti’s, toolkits, center pouches etc. on a daily basis?

I keep my registration in a ziplock and pencil case attached by a small netting in the lid of my center waterproof/crushproof case I’ve attached via small rachet straps. Also have a trustworthy Ontario Rat 2 D2 knife, and mini RovyVon flashlight. Thinking about putting a leatherman wingman in there as well.

Then I have a small homemade first aid kit in an Altoids container consisting of: small scissors, bandaids, gauze, alcohol pads, floss, neosporin, advil.

What are you all carrying?

Can't go wrong with a Leatherman. I've always got one on me.

My tool kit is listed over here: https://hondatrail125.com/index.php?threads/tool-kits.328/#post-10082
For group rides or touring I often carry a RESQ Pak with the most important items being a tourniquet and abdominal packing pads.

I like the idea of an Altoid tin first aid kit, I carry something similar for backpacking but in a LOKSAK waterproof bag. Altoids tin included in photo for scale:
backpacking_first_aid_kit.jpg

Contents:
  • ~7" x ~4.5" loksak bag
  • Metal tweezers (if you spend a few minutes filing them you can make most metal tweezers into fine precision tweezers)
  • Tick removal tweezers (essential out East!)
  • KT elastic sports tape
  • Assorted band-aids
  • Flat packed duct tape with a fun pattern
  • Neosporin
  • Floss (also used as thread)
  • Safety pin
  • Allergy antihistamines
  • Vitamin I (Ibuprofen)
I'll often have a Bic Mini lighter on me and a backup flashlight/torch other than what my phone has, right now it's the OLIGHT 3E EOS because it's cheap (~$10), lightweight, adequately bright (90 lumens), uses a common AAA battery, and most importantly it doesn't accidentally get turned on which is a problem I had with many of the Fenix lights I used to carry.

In my tool box I swapped out the "kit" that came with my Trail with another, more complete kit from a different Honda bike I have. Lots more tools and it just barely fits without the preload adjuster.

If I'm carrying a cell phone (which I most always am) I make sure to carry a small USB battery charger. It's not fun when you're using it for navigation and you only have 5% battery left and a long way to go haha

In the factory tool box I have a Leatherman and Cruz tool for Honda bikes wrapped in a shop towel. I carry a few straps, bungees, HD plastic zip ties and a few metal ones. My helmet lock is a pistol cable lock.

On shorter rides::
  • Phone
  • Wallet
  • Rego and Insurance. Registration can be displayed electronically as per RCW 46.16A.180 (1)(d) and Insurance can be displayed electronically as per RCW 47.30.020. However due to some nuances with the law's wording for the two laws, I use paper registration and digital insurance.
  • In the Honda Toolbox, I keep a 3mm Allen key (for my Quadlock) and the screwdriver + fuses.

On longer rides
  • Toolkit I built up with generic fixits. It's a nice one, from Wolfman luggage.
  • 2 tubes
  • A 1L bottle of water
  • Zip lock bag with a few elastic bands inside and stuff I think I'll use, like my wallet, or sometimes a notepad.
  • Sometimes extra fuel and/or clothes.
  • Usually all of that goes in a shopping tote, so I can easily just grab it all at once. Also no one looks at you twice for carrying a shopping tote into a grocery store, which is the average place I stop during my rides.

This is what I carry in the built-in toolkit. I purchased a toolkit from a C90 to populate the tool bag with the set of tools the Trail would come with in other markets, and have a small first aid kit in a plastic baggie for those scrapes that inevitably result while playing around.

I also carry a few bungies and a cargo net on my wooden cargo crate. Eventually I'm going to make a separate kit for longer trips with tire patching and a few other needs.

Firstaid kit
