Exhaust heat shields

While I'm waiting for mine to be shipped to me (hopefully in my garage in 2 weeks), I have a few questions for you fine folks:
1) how hot does that pipe get near the back? Meaning, too hot/uncomfortable for a passenger with just the stock cover?
2) for those that have the extra cover from Beez, what's it made of & does it cut the heat if was too hot previously?
Figure I'll put in my parts/accessories order while the bike makes its way cross-country.

my gf found it fine to ride on, even with a dress on.

you can touch it bare handed no issues when fully warm . its isolated very well. and my shield is a chrome one.

this was at the vintage drag races earlier this year.

Thank you both. Saved me $50+. Which seats are you running for the passenger? Beez doesn't list dimensions, so wasn't sure which to get.

I can measure it, but it was the small one, I'm using these pegs, seem like they will last. I'd bet eventually it will wear out the paint inside the clamps, they came with cardboard to wrap around but they have loosened a tiny bit over time.

thats the same pad i have, bought it off a member here. I made my own pegs.

Good info again, thanks all. I was looking at those clamp on pegs & wasn't sure between the medium & small seat.
