Extended Warranty?

Getting my yellow CT125 Saturday. This is my first bike and frankly first ever brand new purchase of something of value like this for myself ever. Usually I'm buying used/projects to fix up to bring life back into them. So since I'm wading into unfamiliar waters of having something brand new, I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not an extended warranty is worth it? Dealer quoted me at around $320 for one year and $670 for 5 years. But do I even need it at all since it comes with a 1 year? I bought an extended warranty on my daily driver in 17 (it was a used 13 model with 25k miles) and I did utilize it twice in expensive situations. However, this bike isn't going to be something I'm daily driving nor beating around on trails and hill climbs and thru woods. More or less it is going to be a toy to just cruise loops thru my neighborhood or small town on for the hell of it. Plus I've always heard great feedback about Honda bikes' reliability. I'd rather put that money towards accessories, helmet, taxes and fees with getting plated, etc.

More or less most important thing I'm wanting to know is has anyone gotten an extended warranty with their newer CT125 over the last couple years and have you needed to utilize it at all?

There have been very few issues reported with these bikes that would be covered under warranty. The biggest one was a shifter recall in 2021 which was a safety recall so did not require use of the warranty for replacement. If there is a manufacturing defect and you ride the bike regularly in the first year of ownership, you're pretty likely to encounter it under warranty. It's a very personal choice of buying peace of mind, but I skipped it and have no regrets about that. I don't see much value in it for this motorcycle. Maybe for one that is a first year model with new tech or a motorcycle that is more expensive, but this is a very simple machine with only minor changes from generation to generation.

@SneakyDingo did a deep dive into the Honda extended warranty terms and IIRC his findings were that in SOME states it offers tow service which could make it worth it to someone IF that service is actually offered in your state and you don't already have motorcycle towing coverage.

Thanks for that info... if I'm riding it will be fairly close to home and I have enough buddies with trucks so save me haha I was thinking the same thing based on what I've read that these don't seem to have many if any issues at all so why give the dealer back extra $ that I saved by going with them in the first place is way I'm looking at it.
