Since I installed the Diablo front fender I'm happy with the clearance, however I'd like a little more protection on the back for the engine. My solution is to buy a 0.80 kydex sheet, form it to the fender and rivet it in place. My only decision is whether to rivet it on top of the fender or the bottom which in my mind gives it more rigidity. I've worked with kydex quite a bit for sheaths and holsters so I'm familiar with the material. Just gotta find my heat gun and rivet gun, I hope they made it to New Mexico.

In looking at the pic below of the cylinder head, if I were to extend the skid plate up the existing bars to the cross bar, then drill ventilation holes to allow airflow do you think it would cool the engine enough? Keep in mind I'm in New Mexico and it will be hot soon.

Depending on what your goal is it might defeat the purpose, but some motard "bird beak" fender bikes still run a smaller mud guard in the lower fender location. You could do the same on the CT125.

I think the original brand for this product is "SNB". Don't know if you can buy it independent of the beak. I imagine it would be a popular item to pair with the other high front fenders if you could since the angry bird look is ... not for everyone.

It's just an idea though. If you like the lower guard idea, you could DIY.

Bryan - this Kydex you speak of - is there a layman’s guide to using, cutting, moulding etc that you know of?

Yes, usually you find it connected to knife sheaths, Google making a kydex knife sheath and you will find plenty of videos.

This extension was twice as long when I mounted and formed the kydex, due to the angle of the fender it was rubbing the cylinder head to aggressively, so I was forced to trim it down. I'm currently looking for 4mm aluminum plate to extend to skidplate to cover the cylinder head, I also used my belt sander to round off the horn bracket on the oem front rack. Also wish I had used black rivets I may drill these out and replace with black in the future.
