Is there walkthru that describes what oil and plug to buy? Thanks!
Oil: https://www.hondatrail125.com/index.php?threads/engine-oil.382/#post-3969

My personal maintenance post on the oil change: https://hondatrail125.com/index.php...ntenance-probably-like-an-idiot.753/post-7973

Honda manual has a specification: [online link, pg 101] - Honda GN4 10W-30 is the listed one, but any equivalent or better will do.

Plug: If you're referring to magnetic plugs, then the Gold Plug MP-01 is a common recommendation. The normal one is fine too but it's recommended to run a magnetic plug since there's no oil filter on this bike.
[Generalized search for "gold plug" on the forum, which will turn up a bunch of the plug threads.]

There are also CT125 oil change videos on YouTube, helpful to show you which bolt is the oil drain bolt for the first time. If you want to replace the crush washer used with the drain plug, the OEM one is Honda GASKET, DRAIN PETCOCK (12.5X20) 90407-259-000. You can get it at your local Honda dealer or many different websites.

Just did the first oil change on my trail125 at 507 miles. Easy as pie! Definitely felt a change in the ride.

Thanks to this forum for making it easier. I'm in love with the trail125.
Love how easy it is. Just drain, fit magnetic plug and fill with full synthetic oil. No messing with spin-on filters.

All the talk (and photos) about no filter, only a screen freaked me out so bad I drained the oil after 50 miles. Poured it over a strong magnet (about the size of a 50 cent piece) straining through an old t-shirt. Poured the strained oil back into the bike (with a magnetic drain plug installed) until 600 mile change.

This is what came out at 50 miles. The big gray chunks look like gasket sealant.

I use Gold Plug model MP-01T. Same thread size as the MP-01 everyone recommends but you can remove it with a 12mm wrench instead of a 17mm. If, like me, you already carry a 12mm wrench in your onboard toolkit and not a 17mm then the reduced head version may be the way to go.

Also FYI to anyone thinking of adding a magnetic plug without waiting for an oil change interval, you can lay the bike flat on its side on the grass, oil cap side up, and replace the drain plug without losing a drop of oil.

The two halves of the crankcase are sealed with gray gasket sealant and on some they did a sloppy job of it, so that looks as expected to me.

Good find, a little harder to accidentally over torque as well if your 12mm wrench is a bit shorter than a 17mm.

For trail side oil changes?? Isn’t the interval like 6k miles??
