When I picked my bike up, the dealership said it was full of fuel, I never checked the fuel, fuel gauge was showing 5 bars, now after 50 miles I'm on 2 bars, I was hoping the fuel gauge would be more accurate. I'm going to refill it and check my mileage.

There is full and then there is FULL. Yours wasn't even full. Mine dropped its first bar a couple miles down the road from the dealer. When you actually fill it up I bet she works fine.

FWIW On a test I ran mine empty.
3 bars at 86 miles
2 bars at 106
1 bar at 125
1 flashing bar at 133
Out of gas at 163

That sounds more like it, I will report back after the next tank, been cruising around 30-40mph.

The dealer filled mine to the brim. I am at 36 miles and still showing all the bars. A quick look in the tank and I am guessing at least 3/4 full

I rode for exactly 38 miles on my brand new, fully-brimmed Trail before the first bar disappeared. I get right around 100 miles when I reach half a tank, then I fill back up. So far getting right around 120mpg. I think the first fuel bar is more generous than the rest; by simple maths each one ought to represent (for me, mind) about 30 miles of range.

I just completed my second pump visit with Booger. Both were 50ish miles on the tank when refuelling and it has dropped 1 bar from full.

First fill-up was 112mpg (assuming the dealer filled it completely) and I spilled a little. Second fill-up was 134mpg. So 120mpg average on the JA65 seems the same as the JA55, though I didn't really expect a difference.

I'm impressed with the mileage given how hilly it is and how fat I am.

When I rolled out of the garage yesterday I seen two bars and rode 20 miles of backroads nice and slow, still had two bar when I got home. Had 1/2gal. In my side mounted gas container so I was not worried about running out. Nice to have a little spare gas when riding far from any gas stations. Had the one flashing bar the other day when I was approximately 16 miles from home. I kept riding and made it back without stopping to gas up. I think the gauge is set up pretty good for the price of the bike. The Africa Twin probably has a much more accurate residual fuel measurement capability, you get what you pay for.

I think it may have something to do with the volume we're dealing with here, too. Total capacity isn't much different from my reserve on the Goldwing. Conversely, the Ural doesn't have a fuel gauge.
