There's a few that have done it. A quick link to the forum's search results: Click here

There's some standalone ones and there's the OPMID cluster install. The OPMID install is pretty popular but it is expensive.
  • The OPMID one apparently works pretty well. It's one of the minor reasons for why I'm installing the replacement instrumentation.
  • One person said the webike one didn't work very well for them.
Most people mentally keep track of the gears (count to 4). But I definitely have tried to accelerate from a stop in 2nd and I've reached for an extra gear in 4th so I'm looking forward to the OPMID install.

I think its best to be patient. I don't believe anyone offers a gear indicator for the Trail. The trail and the cub are the same gearbox, and the cub has gear indication, its nice. Its not a big market for gear indicators on the trail, somebody will come up with a kit eventually that is specific to the Trail

Other than the OPMID display, the Takegawa one also has a gear position indicator that works off of engine speed & vehicle speed.

The PROTEC gear indicator works on the CT125 but requires that your replace the current gear sensor in the bike that only checks for neutral with a different Honda part from the Super Cub 110 that can pick up on the other gear positions. The gear sensor from the Super Cub 125 can also be used according to this site, but it has a different plug, so would require some cutting and splicing.

There are also some 3D print designs out there for different mounts for the small PROTEC display.
