I went to the DMV for a temp tag on Friday. My appointment was originally for 14 April, but they take walk ins for Temporary Movement Permits. I got in right away and was shown to a window. I had all my paperwork in order, and told the nice lady the reason for my visit, and my appointment date. She said, "Oh honey, lets just do this right now." So, I got my tags, title and registration done. I have AF Veteran plates on my other two bikes. Some of the money goes to the Veterans Home, so I figure I should start funding my stay now. So, I got another AF Veteran plate for this bike.
Today, I went on a 10 mile run to the indie shop that I use, to get a spare tube. I got 45 mph WFO on level, paved surface. I think it will get better as the bike loosens up. The IRC GP-1's ride just fine on the pavement. I moved the heel shifter up, and it was a little easier to shift. It's still awkward, and I'm thinking of cutting it off and just using the toe shifter. I was getting smooth down shifts by easing off the shifter, like some here have mentioned. Good call, thank you.
I'm on call with my job, so I have to stay fairly close, but I'm going to try to take a day of vacation next week, and ride North Shore Drive around Lake Mead to Overton, and hit some of the side dirt roads and put 100 miles or so on the bike, so I can get an oil change. If I can't, my next scheduled days off are in the first week of March and I'll get it done then.
