Soap and water worked well for me.
I tried compressed air as others suggested but had no luck with that.
Might try your method first next time.

Soap and water has always worked well for me. I used them for years, but now I find them too thick and my hand hurt
Well thats a bummer about them causing you pain. I hope they work for me. My hands were going numb on my last ride with just the stock grips. Very buzzy bars on this bike while going high rpms. If these end up sucking for me as well I will definately share.

I removed the end weights and lots of soap/water...the grip just wouldn't go over the ends...put them back on after...

Cool. Did you think the bar end weights had any heft to them? Or did they feel super light like they were just alluminum?
Yes, they had some heft and feel like solid steel...tough to take off without an impact wrench as they will spin with regular driver...

Thanks for this information. I was pondering buying some aftermarket bar ends for more weight, but now I will just stick with the oem.

a ridge overlooking Lake Guntersville, AL.
I used one wide zip tie and one squirt of watermelon scent hand soap into the grip puppy and used a wet finger to spread it around inside the grip. Used the zip tie to glide the edges over the lips of the Honda grip an a dry tee shirt to push while spinning the zip tie around. It walked right on. 30 second job start to finish once I started pushing it on.
