Just picked up 2 CT125's for my wife and I! After breaking the bank and Beezdeals, the bikes are set up for some rural exploring. Thailand has fantastic roads in general (even better then most of the U.S.) but they can get very narrow in rural areas and then switch to dirt. We think the CT's are prefect for the job. Of course, we have run into roads that I would think might even challenge the CT's...right up until a Thai happily goes about there business plowing up said road on a stock Honda wave from the last decade...in flip flops of course! As a little background, I did a fair bit of riding on bigger bikes 20+ years ago and my wife, who is Thai, has scooter ops in her DNA so she we are both new to CT world. Love this forum, great folks here from what I have seen.

Welcome and congrats!
Seems there's a wonderfully disproportionate number of Trail 125 owners/riders in or from Thailand on YouTube, many demonstrating their Hunter Cub in the Thai back country. Any difficulty with availability of the bike there?
I've enjoyed watching this guy; he has several episodes on YouTube...
"After breaking the bank and Beezdeals..." Well you've got to be glad you're in Beezdeals country, where shipping won't add as much to breaking that bank.

Yes, I doubt I could have afforded to have everything I got from Beez and K-Speed shipped back to America. All the boxes filled up the bed of our truck. Plus, it was good to get to meet the owner at Beez in person and the folks at K-Speed. The Beez owner drives a CT as her personal ride. I really wanted to see the owners CT at K-Speed which is modded to the max but he had it out that day on a ride.

Because that is what I would like.
Fair enough - I asked because I searched for tubeless rims. Found some good looking ones designed in Japan, made in Taiwan and distributed/assembled in Thailand. As the Thailand distributer would not respond to enquiries and with a set costing about $550 before shipping and taxes I eventually gave it away and did a diy conversion

Cheers

I bought the Japan rims. When we went to balance them, they were so out of balance that they couldn’t be saved. Also, there were welds that weren’t completed. I documented all this with video and still, and sent it back to the manufacturer. They agreed right away, refunded my money, and asked me to destroy the rims. I kept the hubs, as they were OEM Honda hubs.

Ooof. Just curious what brand were they? I have seen photos of the Ganesha and T2K Thailand/Thailand tubeless rims, curious what others might be out there for the CT125. The only reputable aftermarket rims I have seen are Excel which is a solid brand, but those are tube type. Their advantage (or disadvantage, depending on how you look at it) over stock rims is that they're aluminum and flashy.

They were the Ganesha rims. Nice looking. Poorly made. Ganesha had some great tires, but would not sell them to me, as they are not DOT. That’s the only reason I could think of.

I liked the T2K rims, but I could never get in contact with them.
