Homemade Muffler Mount?

I purchased a Yoshimura exhaust system and a Motion J Exhaust Pipe Guard Falling Protector for my 2022 Honda Trail 125. Unfortunately, the muffler mount that came with it will not allow me to install the muffler guard. I have removed the muffler mount and temporarily installed the guard to show how the muffler might be mounted. If I manufacture my own mount bracket out of 1/8" aluminum (shown in yellow) and fix it to the side of the rear carrier. It should work. Unfortunately, I would need to drill a hole into the rear carrier which I'm hesitant for some reason to do. What are your thoughts?

use a rubber mounted p clamp around bar on rack instead? then no drilling needed. just shape it square before finalizing. Or, make a mount off the muffler gaurd. Either a plate or heim joint or something.

The video I uploaded showing the new muffler on another bike has both items installed with what appears to be the provided mounts. Unfortunately, I can't see clearly enough to see how it was done. I wish they had provided me installation instructions. Even if it was in Japanese, I could have figured it out from the pics. Maybe the muffler mount bar goes between the muffler mount bolt and the shock. Do you know of a video showing someone actually replacing the rear right shock?

I'd drill and tap a hole...with stainless washers, the whole setup would look OEM...

If you can find a PDF you can put that thing in to Google Translate and it will spit it back out translated. If all you have is a physical copy you can use the Google Translate Phone app that will utilize your camera. Then you just point it at the text and keep it steady. I realized this after i spent hours in my 100+ degree garage trying to make heads or tails of the Takegawa Fi-Con Type-E instructions. I was not pleased with myself.

I have an Outex exhaust that uses a rubber mounted P clamp around the can and re-uses the upper right shock mount while fitting with the exhaust guard. The Outex exhaust is closer in shape to the OEM one though, I think the Yoshimura one you are working with is very long by comparison.

Here is a parts catalog: https://indako.id/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/PC_CT125-HUNTER-CUB.pdf
Page 79 for exhaust/muffler
Page 85 for rear suspension but you'll likely need to look at other pages combined with this to get the full picture.

This video shows both the Yoshimura exhaust and the guard, it looks like they just stacked them.

A pic is worth 1000 words. On F-27, part 11 appears to be a nut on one end and a bolt on the other. It screws in to mount the shock as shown on F-33. I believe the muffler mount goes in-between it and the shock. I say that because the hole on that end of the muffler mount is larger than the screw end of part 11. Now I think I know why. Also, putting it on the nut side and putting the exhaust guard on the screw side more than likely separate the two enough so each is not in the way of the other. Can't wait to try it. Thank you.

They did stack them, but without instructions ... how? I believe the parts catalog you provided me might just have helped me figure out the "how".

I actually had a lot of fun on Sunday installing all of this on the bike. Beez Deals hooked me up with the parts but not one installation instruction. Thank goodness for common sense.

Thank for the translator info JP. I'll keep it in mind for future mods. For the most part, all of the items I installed were remove a couple of bolts and install the new part with the new bolts. I'll admit that installing the new engine guard bars was more difficult. So I did an online search and found a video of two Asian gentlemen doing it. I couldn't understand one single word they were saying but it was pretty clear what I needed to do. Watch a section, pause it, duplicate, watch a little more, pause it, duplicate, and so on until they were on. I stayed relaxed and mulled my way thru it. When I got frustrated, I took a break.

I did mess up my order on one item. The little packet in-between the engine guard bars was supposed to be foam grips. They are actually foam covers for the brake and clutch levers. Seeing that the bike has no clutch, I had one too many. And seeing that I have no idea why I would need a foam cover for the brake lever, I had two too many. After a few clicks on Amazon, I had a pair of Grip Puppies on the way.

Be sure to check the brake lever motion after installing the Grip Puppies. Sometimes the extra width that they add to the grips makes it so that the front brake cannot be pulled in far enough on the bars before hitting them, at which point you then need an adjustable brake lever to compensate. I've tried Grip Puppies a few times and always want to like them... but the extra circumference they add is unfortunately an awkward grip for me. A real bummer since they're inexpensive cushioning that lasts for years.

I finally figured it out and got both the Yoshimura exhaust and the Motion J Exhaust Pipe Guard Falling Protector installed this morning. Thank you everyone.
