Guess I would like to have some of the bikes I've sold over the years. 74 Yamaha RD 350, 1974 Kawasaki H1, Bultaco Alpina 350, 09 Vespa GTS, 65 Lambretta 150, and 73 Suzuki TM 125. For modern bikes, I think I would enjoy a Kawasaki Z900RS and KTM 350 EXC.

I bought the CT because it "spoke to me" when I first saw it. Couldn't get my hands on one until this year.
If I had the money I'd be buying a BMW S1000RR. I have a couple of other fast bikes but this one is the cream of the crop for me right now. I love the frugal low speed fun nature of the CT but some days I just wanna go faster. Wouldn't be buying it to be noticed, but because I want it for me.

I love small bikes and vintage mopeds so if I had infinite money I'd probably get something small, fun, and weird like the Fantic Sprinter or Honda MB5. I have no desire to be a squid or try to "impress" them. My taste in bikes doesn't really align with that lifestyle. I've accepted that most traditional "bike guys" are not going to be impressed with any bike I buy in my lifetime and that's fine by me.

MB5's are the shit. you'd be surprised by how many people you would impress with either of those. there was a guy at the AHRMA race in match at CMP using one of those as a pit bike and he kept getting stopped and asked about it. :ROFLMAO: My friend matt has a nice AR80 he gets a lot of attention on as well, of which was NOT the desired result..

I spent some time in the local moped community so I at least have some idea lol. The Fantic Sprinter is by far the coolest bike I've ever had the pleasure of riding IMO. My various mopeds mostly got questions and compliments from other moped guys, or older guys who were just happy to see that there were still working Puchs riding around. Motorcycle riders and cars mostly just found me to be slow and in the way 🤣

very cool. local guy here has a fantic chopper and a sprinter, he breaks them out at the DGR every year. the chopper was so weird even the moped guys were confused with how rare and neat that thing was.

"Wouldn't be buying it to be noticed, but because I want it for me."
thats the only reason anybody should buy a bike (or car, whatever) IMHO.
Agreed 100%. That was meant in reference to "why would you buy a CT over something to awe the squids."
Have never bought anything to awe anyone.

As a fun aside. My coworker looked at my CT and said "why would you buy THAT?" He's used to seeing me ride superbikes etc. I told him because I wanted to.
Then a vendor came in who also rides. He sees it and says "holy shit that's awesome how much was it? I want one." 😆

Last night, we went to a local bike night. there were probably 6 or 7 more bikes out of frame to the left and 5-6 to the right (otherside of the tesla) when i took this pic. Usually i bring a vintage bike, but i rode out the XR150L and david brought out his new 23 H2. There wa sa constand crowd around the h2, he even did a flyby so you could hear the supercharger blowoff. He didn't buy it to impress anyone but himself, but boy it sure drew a crowd all night long. It is epic to ride for sure. The XR got a lot more attention than i thought, I let a few friends ride it around as well. but that H2 will always impress pretty much anybody.

The Fantic bikes sound impressive. I like the chopper for its old school looks for sure!

Sat and pondered this for a while and realised that I have no desire to buy anything big and impressive bike wise. I to have no burning need to impress anybody, especially some spotty herbert with his plastic crotch extension.
We're spoilt for the selection of old & new, stylish & hugely ugly, and positively beautiful machines both on the roads and on display across the island and the ones that really touched me were a pair of an old Cubs.
I'd like something similar, a 1967 C90 the year it stopped being Cm90/91 I think. A sympathetic rebuild apart from a 12v electrical system upgrade, I never want another 6v motorcycle.
One can dream.

I have a tiny touch of bike envy.
2 CT125s and a C125 in the garage and they're loved but they need an elder to guide them.
I couldn’t help myself. My oldest brother gave me a 1980 C 70 when I was 15 and I never looked back. I found everything from 600 cc sport bikes to 1200 cc Harleys in for some reason everything is sold and gone except for these little bikes. Picked up this latest trio from the barn in Missouri for $1500 for the set. All three of them will be gifts for my brothers.

I don't think any squids would be impressed by the gear I wear while riding, especially the Aerostich suit. If I wanted to awe them I've maybe got some scars for that 😂

Most of my bikes receive compliments of being "cute" or "pretty". Maybe I can get a Vespa GTS in Hello Kitty livery next?

I've had as many as seven at one time, I am down to three now and none of them are getting the attention they deserve. I wouldn't be surprised if I am down to two or possibly even one by years end.

Some people say the correct number of bikes is N+1. To be honest, my number of bikes seems to be between 2 and 2.5 and I have a really good idea of what those 2/2.5 bike profiles are.

I'd replace the CT125 if something happened to it, but probably not with a CT125 for availability reasons. Something similar though. I'd... maybe replace the other full N, the car/cargo bicycle if something happened to it. Insurance alone on the car would pay for a motorcycle a year, but it doesn't solve the same use case. The remaining 0.5... if I wanted to buy nice instead of buying twice, I'd get a Brompton bicycle and keep it for life (relates to the "travel a long distance, drop a vehicle off, then use a vehicle to get back without paying for Uber" generalized problem). Right now is solved with an electric unicycle that has over 2200 miles on it.

XR150L probably would be in my stable, but I have been eying off that SCL500, KTM390 and the Husqvarna Svr... sva... Svertp... Husqvarna 401.

Two-wheeled transportation has, to me, always been a matter of utility, cost-effectiveness, and "being green," if you will. I have bought every bike I've ever owned because I wanted to save money and burn less fossil fuel. So it never mattered to me what anyone thought. I started with a Puch Maxi back in '76, graduated to a Yamaha Razz (in pink) in the mid-80s, to a Kymco Like 125 somewhere in the late '90s. In 2007 I finally broke down and got my MC endorsement on my license, and splurged on a Kymco Downtown 300i, which I still own. The CT125 is the first moto I have bought for the sheer fun of it, and I'm so happy with it. It's also the first moto I've ever owned that has gears to shift through, albeit semi-automatically. To answer the question, if I had all the money in the world, I'd get a Honda SuperCub. I'm not a "fleet" kind of guy; even two bikes seems like too much for me. I might sell the Kymco for that SuperCub next spring. I love the "slow roll" back road lifestyle!
