Is the warranty really worth anything? Besides catastrophic failure?

I’ve had mine for 17 months so out of warranty. When the dealer was raking me over the coals they mentioned extended warranties, as I rode my 45yo ct-90 to work that morning I chose to pass. What would out cover or for that matter what does the first year cover. Tires, brakes, levers, and foot controls would all be wear items I would think. I have recently read about some afraid about “voiding their warranty”. What would the dealership actually fix in a reasonable timeline under warranty?

Extended car warranties are a questionable purchase in many situations other then a 6.0 ford diesel (😉), and like home warranties spend more time denying then paying.
Has anyone had any warranty work done? Extended warranty work done?

short answer: no. however, on my 99sv I bought the 4 ye extended unlimited mileage one, and it paid off 3x. 1st time was peeling tach face, 2nd was I warranties the clutch (was totally my fault) and 3rd time was a leaking seam on the tank at the end of the 4th year. only reason I bought it was a brand new model and design. also, the dealer agreed to let me do every repair myself

I think for most people it's not very useful. The bike is simple and reliable, and the things that break are not things that are covered (considered consumables). The bike isn't that big, and it's easy to do just about everything on. Lots of people have friends with trucks, etc. if they get stuck or caught, or people they can rely on.

I'm not most people. Most of my friends are mechanically inept. Many of them struggle to change bicycle tires. Almost none of them own trucks. So for me. there was only one aspect of the additional coverage that caught my eye and made it worthwhile to me:

Roadside Assistance is available from your authorized Honda Powersports Dealer. You can purchase up to 60 months on your Honda on-road motorcycle and scooter. Roadside assistance provides the following:
  • Towing to nearest Honda dealer regardless of mileage
  • Towing to any Honda dealer or your home within 30 miles of breakdown
  • Coverage in United States, Canada & Mexico
  • Locksmith & Extrication assistance
  • Fluid delivery (up to 2 gallons)
  • Coverage for a total of 4 service incidents per year
  • Over 45,000 service providers

The bulk of my riding is within a 30 mile range so it gives me some real peace of mind when I'm out and about. The transportation of motorcycles around here is notorious for being an absolute sh*tshow if you try to go through normal channels. I'm going to assume that Hondacare does a better job than anything I could rustle up myself in an emergency.

It also says to me that if I want to do some big trips, I should get that sorted out twice - once at the start of my warranty, and one at the end of my warranty :). So the warranty was a promise that I will take the time for myself to do those things.

I bought a SUBARU I figured out why the GM dealerships treat people so badly. They must hate people! Damn customers. Reliability is why I bought HONDA/SUBARU. The Outback was made in the US. Or at least it was put together here.

I’ve never went for the extra warranty and, luckily, have never regretted it. I do all the basic maintenance on our vehicles anyway and I know a good, local Toyota mechanic for our Tacoma’s if I get into trouble🤣.
These days it seems the biggest benefit of a warranty would be for computer/electrical gremlins. I hate that crap with a passion only surpassed by running out of beer....
Edit to add: I just don’t think there’s a need for an extended warranty on the 125. The power train design is proven and reliable and everything else would be a pretty cheap/simple fix even if you had a Honda dealer do it at $90 an hour labor cost. I just don’t think the money paid for extra warranty protection would end up being of financial benefit for this machine.
