Trying to figure a way to carry gas. Rotopax is expensive and bulky. I like the desert bag, but still over $100 shipped. Any reason I couldn't use an empty 32 oz Tru-Fuel can? I wouldn't put in the loops as shown, I was just wondering if it would fit. I'd put in the bag. A couple of these would be a half gallon and at least another 50 plus miles of range. And they are free. Just gotta have the caps on tight. Maybe put them in big ziplock bag.

I first was using an old stainless water bottle that had dents in it. It didn’t leak and the top had a loop for tying down. It held a liter of gas.

Rotella jugs are what we use in Baja, tough but cactus poke right through em! Small Gatorade bottles for oil, carried the same one for 4 years, just so I don’t need it...

One of the great things about this LRD is the fuel economy. On my 500 mile 3 day loop, I carried the 3L Desert Fox bag, but, never needed it. Look into a MSR fuel bottle @ 1L or the Primus 1.5L. Both of these are reasonably priced and can take a beating and not leak. For meandering around town and local rides, a liter is all you will ever need. For those nuts who travel hundreds of miles down deserted desert lostways, take a gallon. Stay away from the gatorade bottles and the Tru-Fuel can, both will cause your grief.
