My commute is very short so I decided to take a much longer way home to learn Snots transmission a little better. After 53 miles my butt is numb, but Snot and I have a better understanding of one another. I tried to show the motor some mechanical sympathies and not hold it wide open for long stretches, picking as many backroads as possible. There were a few stretches of open throttle for up to about 6 miles (not quite pinned to the stop) and I saw 50mph most of the time, on one downhill I saw 58mph with a partially rolled throttle. The rest of the time I was happy to putt around at about 45mph. On one particularly winding road I found it a joy to dance around the gearbox making clean shifts, flicking Snot around with an abandon that I wouldn't have with any of my other bikes except maybe my motard.
I did feel the limitations of the little motor on a few occasions with vehicles flying up behind me that normally I wouldn't concern myself with. I couldn't ride to the posted limit on one instance and ducked to the shoulder to let a pavement princess Wrangler go by, the other one was an F250 on a back road that climbed up my butt when I was trying to muster Snot up a hill.
My overall impressions so far are that it's a fun little bike that will fit my reasons for purchasing perfectly, a convenient and economical machine for commuting and running out for milk eggs and beer. I'll stick with a bigger cc machine if I want to chew miles or get my rocks off at higher digits.
It's such a photogenic little thing and the sunlight really showed up the green nicely. This is my fave snapshot from the ride.

Now treat her to a nice oil change to make up for your flogging her so soon out of the gate. ;)
