Magnetic dipstick?

Seems like a good idea to me. They make them for Honda generators, why not for the 125. Seems like it would help keep the oil a little cleaner and you would get an earlier heads up on something headed south by seeing the increase in material when checking the oil rather than not catching it until the next oil change.I see no downside to one

i mean, it wont hurt anything. But also as said, after break in, not going to be much is the way of ferrous materials if any, roller bearing motors are good that way. a filter is the best option as it will catch what clogs oil ports... bits of gasket material, rubber from the timing chain wheels, worn clutch material, and aluminum from piston skirts.

My point is, it might give a false sense of security. this failed timing idler is why i made this (last pic) before the koso ones were even out. a magnetic drain plug would not have caught it. just fyi. BUT, a magnetic dispstick is not a bad idea.

At what mileage should a person start worrying about the timing idler going south? This bike is so easy to ride I see it as being the last to be retired as time takes its toll on my body. I want to do what is practical to keep it going as long as possible.

honestly, most never have issues, some do. ive seen ct90s have this issue as well, but its usually when they get ridden really hard. just keep an eye on what is in the oil, and change it frequently.

A typical portable generator uses splash lubrication vs a pressurized (pump) system. As oil is splashed around the interior of the (generator) engine while running a magnetic dipstick is key, a pressurized system directs oil to the (motorcycle) engine/transmission vitals,... avoiding the dipstick.
