Maintenance Schedule - Clutch System

When I first got my bike, I dutifully read through the owners manual page-by-page. Glancing at the maintenance schedule, I noticed that the 600 mile service included only two items - engine oil change and clutch system. For the Clutch System, it was coded with an I" meaning Inspect (clean, adjust, lubricate or replace if necessary). It is also coded with the "wrench" indicating an intermediate level of service where Honda states "we recommend service by your dealer, unless you have the necessary tools and are mechanically skilled. Procedures are provided in an official Honda service manual". So off I went to order the trail 125a service manual. After waiting quite a while for Helm to get then in stock, and then for Fedex to drive it around the southeast for a week or so, it finally arrived today! Unfortunately, the maintenance schedule has the same basic info as the owners manual. There is no page reference in the chart for the "clutch system" maintenance item - so no specific instructions are provided in the manual (other than the exploded diagram of the clutch system). I guess it is possible that there is a reference for it in the "basic" service manual. I did not purchase one of those (yet).

So, for anyone that has had their 600 mile service at a dealer, any idea what they actually did for the clutch system inspection?

Those that do their own, care to share what you did?

Does the "basic" common service manual shed any light on this?

Thanks r80rt. I assume that is from the basic common manual?

I posted up somewhere(not sure where) a little bit about my experience taking the clutch cover off, cleaning the spinner, and replacing the cover. In short, there be Dragons under the cover...meaning theres some linkage that takes a knack to put back on. Based on what I saw in the spinner (nothing at all) imo I would not do it again. This just for those who do stupid things like watch a YT video and think they can shoe the Donkey......ME

You get kicked in the head so many times by that the Donkey that IT laughs out loud every time IT see's you! I am about to put mine back together after figuring out where the parts go, that fell to the ground as I took cover off. The brake lever, and not taking off the adjust locking nut was my nemesis.

I had to hold gizmo parts in place with screwdriver thru cover while putting it back on. As far as marking gadget with punch to realign with shaft,I missed that. After a lot of adjustment,it may work. I will find out in a few minutes. I would not do it again! I put a magnetic GOLD PLUG in soon after I got it,and whatever was in there was probably from the first 20 minutes of running it. One of most difficult tasks I have done. Big bore install with cam was much easier, and I have never done that before.
