Best way to travel!
If you continue to do this and expand into multi-day trips it's worth looking at some of the ultralight hiking enthusiast sites. They have reduced size and weight to the point of ridiculousness.
With our smaller bikes that could be a huge benefit!
My prediction - A year from now you'll be doing this same trip with a fanny pack and your load will not be above the top of the crate.

Awwwwwwww yisss this is my goal as well. I'm probably going to end up being Team Duffel Bag, but I already have one enormous advantage over you: my gear is designed for bikepacking on a bicycle!! So it's already pretty compact and quite good quality. I think I threw it in the crate at one point and still had space left over for dispersed camping bringing in water and fuel. I'd be camping already except that I'm handling government stuff right now and need to stay near a computer.

One thing that I am super mindful of is that moto camping does not quite have the same advantages as bicycle camping. State parks around here have a "no turn away" policy for bicycles, because of the hazard it presents to the riders. Around here, we have to book our sites a lot more often, and very early in advance unless it's mid-week.

If I end up in your area I'll let you know and we'll see if we can improve on a camp diet entirely consisting of sausage :p.
