I had a "Long Haul 3L" can mounted on the rear G-Craft rack, but I didn't like it. IMO the mount on this solution is poorly designed. It doesn't get tight no matter what you do.

I decided to go with a different solution, and tried out the Givi "Tank" TAN01 can with holder. I mounted it on the center rack, which for me has been empty space, and it turned out excellent. The mount fit PERFECTLY on the Motoskill rack, with the 4 required holes all hitting sufficient metal so I didn't need to fab up an adapter plate.

The only fiddly extra was I needed to drill a 1/2" hole in the Givi support base so that I can get the Motoskill rack bolt in/out when needed without removing the Tank support. You can see it here:

After all that it's a perfect fit, is super stable, and having the weight of the fuel up front will be better for mass centralization. Overall a big two thumbs up for this. The clamshell holder will also easily accommodate a dry bag or something similar if extra fuel is not needed.

where did you get that and the holder?
The Tank is GIVI-TAN01. The holder is GIVI-E205.

I buy all my Givi stuff from https://mototstorm.it. Beware, if you have issues Givi USA will not support you, so if you buy from there you're basically buying without a warranty. Otherwise it looks like Revzilla is where you need to go if you want to order from a US distributor.

That is the best solution I've seen. Do you think there would be a way to fab up some sort of quick release so that you only add the tank when you will need it?

As I await my Long Haul 3L from Thailand due to arrive in May, I like that setup, looks quality, but I really want to keep my center rack available for anything but fuel. I will do what it takes to make my Long Haul work. I like the looks of the rear side mount and that’s just a great place for a spare fuel container on a bike that doesn’t have a lot of places to put anything.
